(Dan Tri) - 28 years of journey, Toyota Technical Scholarship has lit the flame of hope, connecting schools and students with businesses, opening up prospects for the development of the country's industry.

Held annually since 1997, the Toyota Technical Scholarship has become a goal for many generations of students majoring in mechanics, engineering, and the environment to strive to excel in their studies.

To date, Toyota has awarded more than 3,000 scholarships worth nearly VND2 billion to outstanding students at 18 universities nationwide. In addition, support in facilities, with more than 200 pieces of equipment (cars, engines, gearboxes, etc.), has contributed to improving the quality of teaching and learning, narrowing the gap between theory and practice.

Established in 2006, Nam Dinh University of Technical Education is one of the leading technical education training institutions in the country, producing engineers and technical teachers with high knowledge and expertise. Since 2012, Toyota Vietnam and the school have signed a memorandum of understanding, confirming educational sponsorship through the Ministry of Education and Training.

Mr. Nguyen Luong Kien - Head of Student Affairs Department said: "Up to now, 85 students of the school have received Toyota technical scholarships with a total value of 460 million VND".

In addition, the Japanese car company also donated teaching and practice equipment such as engines, gearboxes, steering systems, front axles, etc. to the school to serve teaching and practice.

In addition, teachers and students of the school also visited Toyota's factory and automobile production line, thereby better understanding the technological process of manufacturing and assembling a complete car, and the waste treatment process of the world's leading automobile manufacturer.

"The scholarship program is meaningful to the school, helping us communicate better to learners, motivating teachers and students to promote teaching and learning activities, and connecting schools with businesses," said Mr. Nguyen Luong Kien.

The scholarship recipients are students with good academic and training achievements, studying mechanical and engineering majors. In particular, Nam Dinh University of Technical Education prioritizes students majoring in automotive mechanics, overcoming difficulties in studying, and having achievements in scientific research. This is also the criterion set by the Ministry of Education and Training and Toyota Vietnam.

"I hope that Toyota Vietnam will continue to implement this scholarship in the following years and reorganize factory tours for teachers and students of the school, as it has done since 2020, because this is a useful and interesting experience for teachers and students," teacher Nguyen Luong Kien shared.

Within the framework of the 2024 scholarship program, the Japanese car company awarded 115 scholarships with a total value of 690 million VND to students of the schools. Along with that, 3 engines, 1 steering shaft and 1 Vios compressor; 2 engines and 1 Avanza Premio gearbox; 2 Corolla Altis power steering and 1 Yaris Cross gearbox were also awarded to 7 colleges training in Automotive Engineering Technology to serve the teaching work of the schools.

Through the Toyota Technical Scholarship, the Japanese automaker has been and continues to contribute to nurturing a talented and enthusiastic young generation, improving the quality of Vietnamese human resources in the automobile industry and actively contributing to the country's development.
