Top 5 Vietnamese movies with the highest and lowest revenue in 2024

According to theater estimates, total revenue from Vietnamese movie ticket sales in 2024 will reach more than 1,700 billion VND.

Mai , directed by Tran Thanh, took the top spot when it was released in February 2024 with 551 billion VND. This is also the Vietnamese film with the highest international revenue, over 1 million USD.

Next is Lat mat 7: Mot giau uoc by Ly Hai with 482 billion VND. A family drama but attracts audiences with a modern and emotional narrative.

Third place belongs to Nhat Trung's Getting Rich with Ghosts, which earned 128 billion VND. This is the work that marks Hoai Linh's return to the silver screen alongside Tuan Tran.

Fourth is a horror film Ma da directed by Nguyen Huu Hoang, starring Viet Huong. The film earned 127 billion VND in revenue.

Holding the fifth position is Cam directed by Tran Huu Tan, earning up to 96 billion VND. Cam is inspired by the fairy tale Tam Cam with the main character Cam but adds many creepy details related to generations in a family.

Meanwhile, on the other hand, the film with the lowest revenue in 2024 was Hot Girl Squad . The film failed miserably in terms of revenue, earning only 67 million VND in ticket sales.

Next is Fragile Flower directed and produced by Mai Thu Huyen, filmed mostly in the US, earning only 430 million VND, with a budget of about 20 billion VND.

Coming in third is Domino: The Last Exit (VND596 million). The film stars Thuan Nguyen and a familiar cast of actors such as Quoc Cuong, Huynh Anh Tuan, etc.

The fourth lowest grossing film is Coolie Never Cries by director Pham Ngoc Lan with 744 million VND. Although it won the Best Debut Film award at the 2024 Berlin International Film Festival in Germany, Best Feature Film at the 2024 Jeonju International Film Festival, Best Asian Film at the 2024 Da Nang Asian Film Festival... Coolie Never Cries has difficulty reaching the majority of audiences because it is not an entertainment film.

Ranked fifth in the low-grossing list of 2024 is Tra directed by Le Hoang. The film was released on the occasion of Lunar New Year 2024 but was rushed out of theaters after 4 days of showing, earning 1.61 billion VND.
