EXPORT PROCEDURES
Number of people completing immigration procedures at border gates increases

Deputy Director of Nam Giang International Border Gate Management Board - Nguyen Huu Tien said that the main export goods include: temporary export, re-import of machinery, equipment, export of construction materials, repair of hydropower projects in Laos, and consumer goods. The main import goods include: re-import of machinery, construction equipment for hydropower projects in Laos. The main transit goods are cassava starch, bauxite aluminum ore (Laos transits through Vietnam to Da Nang port, Chan May port and THACO port to China).

According to the Border Gate Management Board, currently, during rush hour, the volume of vehicles carrying ore waiting to complete entry and exit procedures on both sides of the border gate is very large. Traffic congestion lasting several kilometers occurs frequently in the evening.

The border gate management board recommends that the authorities on both sides of the border gate (Vietnam and Laos) share information about incidents (power outages, traffic jams, road closures, etc.) to have appropriate coordination plans to handle them, shortening the time to process entry and exit procedures for vehicles passing through the border gate.

In addition, the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development has not yet decided to establish the Nam Giang Border Gate Plant Quarantine Station, so the Plant Quarantine Sub-Department of Region III does not have the human resources to work directly at the border gate. The Border Gate Management Board requests the Management Board of Economic Zones and Industrial Zones to arrange land for the Plant Quarantine Station at the border gate to build when there is a decision from the competent authority; promptly arrange investment funds to synchronously build a system of guard posts and barriers at the border gate area, to control people and vehicles passing through the border gate.

Prioritize investment in building parking lots for vehicles waiting to complete import procedures and parking lots for vehicles waiting to complete export procedures; invest in completing the construction of main roads within the border gate. Funds will be used from the revenue from vehicle fees collected through the border gate.
