Summary of the implementation of the Prime Minister's decisions related to searching for and collecting martyrs' remains

On the morning of May 15, the National Steering Committee for Searching, Collecting and Identifying Martyrs' Remains (National Steering Committee 515) held a conference to review the implementation of the Prime Minister's decisions regulating the regime, policies and assurance work for organizations and individuals performing the task of searching for and collecting martyrs' remains.

Senior Lieutenant General Vo Minh Luong, member of the Party Central Committee, Deputy Minister of National Defense, Deputy Head of National Steering Committee 515 attended and chaired the conference at the Central bridge.

Attending the conference at the Lao Cai Provincial Military Command bridge were Colonel Nguyen Ngoc Ngan, Deputy Head of the Standing Committee of the Provincial Steering Committee 515, Political Commissar of the Provincial Military Command; members and standing agencies of the Provincial Steering Committee 515; Head of Steering Committee 24 of 9 districts, towns and cities; leaders and representatives of the Military Commands of districts, towns and cities and leaders of a number of departments and offices of the Provincial Military Command...

The conference was held online at 71 locations of units and localities nationwide with about 3,000 delegates attending.

To meet the requirements of the task of searching for and collecting martyrs' remains, the Prime Minister issued Decision No. 75, dated December 6, 2013, stipulating the regime, policies and assurance work for organizations and individuals performing the task of searching for and collecting martyrs' remains and Decision No. 35, dated July 25, 2017, amending and supplementing a number of articles of Decision No. 75.

According to the assessment of the National Steering Committee 515, the Prime Minister's decisions on regulations, policies and guarantees for organizations and individuals performing the task of searching for and collecting martyrs' remains have demonstrated the attention of the Party, the State, all levels, sectors, localities and units; the regulations and policies are fully, promptly and properly ensured for the right subjects; the budget is arranged, managed and used for the right purposes; the means and equipment are effectively managed, exploited and used to create favorable conditions for performing the task of searching for and collecting martyrs' remains.

From 2013 to present, the whole country has searched for and collected 21,228 martyrs' remains: 10,283 in Vietnam, 3,365 in Laos, 7,580 in Cambodia. The number of martyrs' remains found has partly met the expectations of the people and relatives of martyrs' families, contributing to stabilizing the political and social situation in localities; increasing people's trust in the guidelines, policies and strategies of the Party and State.

The National Steering Committee 515 also assessed that the search and collection of martyrs' remains is facing many difficulties due to the fact that information about martyrs and martyrs' graves is increasingly scarce and not highly accurate; the impact of nature and changing terrain. Regarding the regime, policies, and levels of expenditure for organizations and individuals performing the task of searching and collecting martyrs' remains are currently low, not suitable for the specific and special nature of the search and collection work...

In the coming years, the National Steering Committee 515 determined to continue to thoroughly grasp the Party's guidelines and policies, the State's laws, raise awareness of all levels, sectors, leaders, and commanders of agencies, units, and localities regarding the search and collection of martyrs' remains and implement policies and regimes for organizations and individuals in performing the task of searching and collecting martyrs' remains to achieve practical results; research and propose to the Government and the Prime Minister to issue new documents on regimes, policies, and assurance work for organizations and individuals performing the task of searching and collecting martyrs' remains; promote propaganda work, promote the combined strength of the entire political system, the role of agencies, units, and organizations participating in the search and collection of martyrs' remains, etc.
