According to the special correspondent of VNA, within the framework of the official visit to Malaysia, at noon on November 23, General Secretary To Lam and his wife, along with the high-ranking Vietnamese delegation, visited the Embassy and met with the Vietnamese community in Malaysia.

Reporting at the meeting, Vietnamese Ambassador to Malaysia Dinh Ngoc Linh said that there are currently over 30,000 Vietnamese people living, studying and working, mainly concentrated in the Western peninsula, in which the capital Kuala Lumpur, the states of Penang, Johor and Ipod are where many Vietnamese people reside and work.

The Vietnamese community in Malaysia is basically united, hard-working, has a spirit of mutual love and support, helps each other in life, complies with Vietnamese law and the law of the host country, and integrates well into the local society.

Ambassador Dinh Ngoc Linh emphasized that the wise leadership, resolute direction and correct policies of the Party and State have created the position and image of a dynamic Vietnam that is "rising" to develop strongly and prominently in recent times. This is an important factor that creates favorable conditions for the foreign affairs of the Representative Office and encourages the local community to strongly promote patriotism, national pride, turn towards the homeland, trust in the leadership of the Party and State and be happy and excited about the achievements of nearly 40 years of innovation and development of the country.

In the intimate atmosphere of the meeting, Ms. Tran Thi Chang - President of the Malaysia-Vietnam Friendship Association - shared that this meeting will be a profound and unforgettable memory, and also a source of infinite encouragement, demonstrating the concern of the Party, State and Government of Vietnam for the Vietnamese community abroad in general and in Malaysia in particular.

The President of the Malaysia-Vietnam Friendship Association hopes that the leaders of the Party, State, National Assembly and Government of Vietnam will continue to pay attention to the Vietnamese community abroad in general and Malaysia in particular, and at the same time create conditions for Vietnamese people abroad to have many good opportunities in investment cooperation, contributing to the development of the country, making a small contribution to the country's rise in the coming time; hoping that relevant agencies in the country will discuss and coordinate with the Malaysian side to remove this difficulty, creating conditions for Vietnamese brides to enjoy the same rights as Malaysians...

Sharing about his journey of studying and living in Malaysia, Tran Nam Trung - a graduate student at City University - expressed that during his time studying, the international students always deeply felt the spirit of solidarity, love and mutual support of the Vietnamese community here. The international students have participated in many cultural exchange activities and received support from the Embassy, ​​helping them overcome initial difficulties. This connection has motivated the international students to continue to strive in their studies and self-development, always maintaining the spirit of learning and contributing to the community.

At the meeting, General Secretary To Lam warmly greeted the people, expressing his joy and emotion at meeting a large number of officials and staff of the Embassy, ​​representatives of the community, businesses, and Vietnamese students studying in Malaysia in a warm atmosphere of love for the homeland and country.

General Secretary To Lam said that during his official visit to Malaysia, the two sides agreed to elevate their relationship to a Comprehensive Strategic Partnership. The establishment of the Vietnam-Malaysia Comprehensive Strategic Partnership at this time is of special significance, opening up great opportunities for cooperation as the two countries enter a new period of development, creating a strong development step in bilateral relations to bring benefits to the people of both countries, while contributing to consolidating the environment of peace, stability, cooperation and economic connectivity in the region and the world.

Regarding the Vietnamese community in Malaysia, the General Secretary emphasized that the Party and State highly value the Vietnamese community abroad, including the overseas Vietnamese community in Malaysia; affirming the consistent policy of the Party and State to always care for and look after the Vietnamese community abroad, considering the Vietnamese community abroad as an inseparable part and an important resource of the Vietnamese ethnic community. The State has issued policies showing its concern for Vietnamese people abroad.

The General Secretary hopes that people will comply with local laws and labor contracts, promote the image of Vietnamese people, continue to actively integrate into local society, contribute to the development of the homeland as well as the Vietnam-Malaysia relationship; at the same time, he believes that the overseas Vietnamese community in Malaysia will develop more and more, always unite and support each other, while preserving and promoting the traditional Vietnamese language and culture, contributing to becoming a resource to help the country develop and become stronger.

Appreciating the efforts of the Embassy in promoting the cooperative relationship between Vietnam and Malaysia, in the coming time, with the two countries having established the framework of Comprehensive Strategic Partnership, the General Secretary requested the Ambassador and all staff of the Embassy, ​​representatives of Vietnam's permanent agencies in Malaysia to continue to promote the achievements, excellently complete all assigned tasks, contributing to promoting the cooperative relationship between the two countries to become increasingly deep, effective and substantive.

The General Secretary noted that the Embassy should continue to pay attention to doing well community work in the area, grasp the situation, promptly support overseas Vietnamese to remove obstacles in residence, business, study, improve legal status, better integrate into the host society, and at the same time encourage overseas Vietnamese to make many practical contributions to their homeland and country./.
