General Secretary and President sends congratulatory letter for new school year 2025

"In his letter to students on the first school opening day of the Democratic Republic of Vietnam, Uncle Ho wrote: "Whether Vietnam's mountains and rivers become beautiful or not, whether the Vietnamese people can step up to the stage of glory to stand shoulder to shoulder with the world's great powers or not, depends largely on your studies". The late General Secretary and President Nguyen Phu Trong also emphasized in a meeting with outstanding students on November 3, 2018: "Talents are the vital energy of the nation, when the vital energy is prosperous, the country is strong, when the vital energy is weak, the country is weak". Our Party and State always identify education and training as a top national policy, and have had and are having policies to prioritize the development of education and training. In the 2023-2024 school year, after 10 years of implementing Resolution No. 29-NQ/TW dated November 4, 2013 of the Party Central Committee on fundamental and comprehensive innovation of education and training, our country's education has made strong progress and achieved many important achievements, contributing greatly to improving people's knowledge, developing human resources, nurturing talents; making important contributions to the country's socio-economic development and international integration. On behalf of the Party and State leaders, I warmly commend the spirit of emulation and striving of teachers and students nationwide, as well as the efforts, attempts and results of the entire education sector, the companionship and support of parents in the past time", the General Secretary and President wrote.

Also according to the letter of the General Secretary and President, the new school year 2024-2025 is the first school year to implement Conclusion No. 91-KL/TW of the Politburo on continuing to implement Resolution No. 29-NQ/TW and deploying the new General Education Program in all grades from grade 1 to grade 12. General Secretary and President To Lam hopes that the education sector needs to focus on implementing well the theme of the school year: "Innovation, quality improvement, solidarity and discipline". Education and training need to continue to aim at human development and human happiness, maximize the human factor, take people as the center, subject, resource, and goal of development, creating a foundation for realizing the goal of a rich people, a strong country, democracy, fairness, and civilization. Sending his best wishes to the staff, teachers, students and trainees in the new school year, the General Secretary and President wrote: "With the spirit of the new school year, I believe that students and trainees will strive to study, cultivate, absorb and master knowledge, form core competencies, and create great aspirations to build an increasingly prosperous and happy country. I hope that teachers, managers and workers in the education sector will always be dedicated, love their profession, be creative, overcome all difficulties, and contribute more to their noble cause. I hope that parents, for the future of our children, will coordinate well with schools, creating a close connection between schools - families - society in education. I request that central ministries, branches, Party committees and authorities pay more attention to the education cause with timely, practical and correct decisions so that teachers and students can learn. Students and trainees are taught and studied in a healthy environment with full conditions to promote creativity and successfully carry out the innovation of the country's education.

In the 2024-2025 school year, the country will have a total of more than 25 million students. Of which, there are more than 2 million university students and more than 23 million high school students. According to the plan of key tasks and solutions for the 2024-2025 school year of the education sector, the Minister of Education and Training has proposed 12 key tasks and solutions, including: Continuing to perfect institutions, improving the effectiveness and efficiency of state management of education; Ensuring fairness in access to education for all subjects, in which, paying attention to ethnic minorities, people living in mountainous areas, areas with especially difficult socio-economic conditions, coastal areas, islands, orphans, homeless children, people with disabilities, people from poor households, near-poor households; Improving the quality of preschool education, general education and continuing education; Developing a team of teachers, lecturers and educational institution managers to ensure sufficient quantity and improve quality, meeting the requirements of educational and training innovation; Effectively using the state budget and mobilizing investment resources for education; Strengthening political and ideological education, national defense and security education, physical education, and school health; Improving the quality of human resource training, especially high-quality human resources associated with scientific research and innovation; Strengthening international integration in education; promoting digital transformation and administrative reform in the whole sector; Strengthening inspection and handling of violations in the field of education and training; Strengthening communication and implementing emulation movements well.
