President and King of Belgium visit Thang Long Imperial Citadel

This is a complex of relics associated with the history of Thang Long - Hanoi Citadel. The project was built by dynasties in many historical periods. In 2010, the World Heritage Committee passed a resolution recognizing the central area of Thang Long - Hanoi Imperial Citadel as a World Cultural Heritage.

The tour aims to introduce King Philippe and Queen Mathilde to the history, culture and hospitable people of Vietnam, thereby promoting people-to-people exchanges and creating a foundation for expanding cooperation to other fields.

The President and his wife, along with the King and Queen of Belgium, passed through the Doan Mon Gate to visit the archaeological pit.

President Luong Cuong and his wife, along with the King and Queen of Belgium, passed through Doan Mon Gate to visit the archaeological pit and the stone dragon steps of Kinh Thien Palace, where many vestiges of Thang Long Imperial Citadel from different historical periods are still preserved.

The delegation also visited the Thang Long Royal Treasures Exhibition House. This is where a number of artifacts recognized as “National Treasures” are displayed, including precious metals and high-class ceramics made by the Thang Long kiln to serve the king and mandarins of the royal court.

The President, his wife and distinguished guests were introduced to the thousands of years of history of the Vietnamese people through artifacts preserved and maintained at the heritage site.

The Belgian King and Queen expressed their impression of the profound cultural and historical values that the Imperial Citadel of Thang Long brings, and emphasized the importance of preserving and promoting the cultural heritage values of each nation.

Previously, after the official welcoming ceremony, Madam Nguyen Thi Minh Nguyet and Queen Mathilde visited the President Ho Chi Minh relic site at the Presidential Palace.

The Belgian Queen was introduced to the stilt house where Uncle Ho used to live and receive international guests.

After the tour, the Queen and the First Lady fed fish at Uncle Ho's fish pond. Walking along the green mango road, Mrs. Nguyen Thi Minh Nguyet briefly introduced the relic complex to Queen Mathilde.
