Mr. Nguyen Thang, a senior in Thuy Phu, was proud when the locality was honored to receive the Certificate of city-level historical relic ranking for “The Temple and Tomb of Mr. Ngo Thu”. The wishes of the local people have come true. The joy of the people is not only the recognition of the city-level historical relic ranking but also opens up opportunities for local socio-economic and tourism development.

Ms. Ngo Thi Ai Huong, Vice Chairman of Huong Thuy Town People's Committee informed that the contributions of historical figure Ngo Thu are closely associated with the process of expanding the country to the South of Dai Viet and the birth of Phu Bai village, honored as Thanh Hoang, worshiped from generation to generation. The preservation and promotion of the historical and cultural values of the relic further fosters the spirit of patriotism and gratitude of local people towards those who have contributed to the country.

According to historical documents, in 1558, when Lord Nguyen Hoang came to guard Thuan Hoa, Mr. Ngo Thu's family also followed and assisted and began to reclaim and expand the land of Phu Bai. With a strategic vision and profound understanding of geography, he organized mineral exploitation, developed agriculture, established an army to protect villages and contributed to consolidating Lord Nguyen's power in the southern region of the Imperial City.

Mr. Ngo Thu was famous for his spirit, prudence and seriousness. He was respected by his friends and the people. After his death, the people of Phu Bai village mourned him, built a temple, honored him as the local Thanh Hoang and set up a ritual dance to burn incense every year. In the system of folk temples in Hue, a human god honored as Thanh Hoang is rare. The temple and tomb of Mr. Ngo Thu still preserve many Han Nom documents, such as horizontal lacquered boards, parallel sentences, royal decrees... This is a valuable source of documents for researchers to study the character Ngo Thu and his great contributions to the history of the nation in general and the land of Thuan Hoa in particular.

The shrine of Mr. Ngo Thu was built in the style of Hue's traditional house. With the style, art, and decoration following the typical art style of the Nguyen Dynasty in the 19th century, with themes reflecting the nature of a family in a rural area with a long tradition of culture and profession. The shrine and tomb of Mr. Ngo Thu contribute to diversifying and enriching the types of relics in the system of tangible cultural heritage, as well as the history of development, the cultural depth of Phu Bai village in particular and the community of residents in Huong Thuy land in general.

The establishment of records and research to recognize the relic of the Temple and Tomb of Mr. Ngo Thu demonstrates the attention of all levels and sectors to the national cultural heritage; at the same time, it meets the legitimate aspirations of the Party Committee, the government and the people of Thuy Phu commune, especially the descendants of the Ngo family throughout the country, and is the basis for educating the historical and cultural traditions for the young generations today and tomorrow. Ms. Ngo Thi Ai Huong said that the ceremony to receive the certificate of recognition of the city-level relic demonstrates the attention, investment and efforts of the local government in the work of protecting and promoting cultural heritage.

At the ceremony to receive the Certificate of ranking as a city-level historical relic "The Temple and Tomb of Mr. Ngo Thu", the leaders of Huong Thuy town requested the City Party Committee, the City People's Committee, and relevant agencies to continue to pay attention to investing in building technical facilities, guiding and assisting in exploiting and promoting the value of the relic as well as preserving and embellishing the landscape and environment at the relic, building this historical relic into a place for traditional education as well as tourism development.
