After the launch, as a way to present the history of the problem, Vo Xuan Que systematized the translations of "Prison Diary" into foreign languages ​​through the evaluation of each author, research institute, conference... The understandable situation is that they are different, incomplete, and inaccurate. With the desire to supplement, after 5 years of work, he made a list of "at least" 37 languages/writings. Arranged in alphabetical order, they are Arabic, Albanian, English, Polish, Persian, Basque, Belarusian, Bengali, Portuguese, Croatian, Czech, Danish, German, Esperanto, Galician, Korean, Hebrew, Hindi, Hungarian, Greek, Italian, Kazakh, Lao, Malayalam, Myanmar, Mongolian, Norwegian, Russian, Japanese, French, Finnish, Romanian, Slovak, Sinhala, Spanish, Swedish, Uzbek. It is a feat, because many people may not even know some of these languages. English has 8 translations, the most, followed by Bengali, Japanese, Spanish... Vo Xuan Que meticulously "attaches" the book title of each language, translator, place and year of publication. And besides that, there are many "unknown" things: Translations that are not known in Vietnam, translations that have been collected but not introduced...

It is interesting to see the “narration” of the British poet John Birtwhistle: “So you can see that ‘Prison Diary’, written in a language and by a politician, has been a source of interest to me for decades in my own poetry. It could be said that my reworking of Palmer’s version of ‘Prison Diary’ has contributed to the development of my own poetry.”

With only nearly 200 pages, "Prison Diary in a Foreign Language" is not easy to read for the majority. The author modestly states his work as "collecting and introducing", but this is indeed a thick, elaborate research work, taking up a lot of time, effort, and brainpower.

Dr. Vo Xuan Que is a researcher at the Vietnam Institute of Linguistics, currently living in Finland. His extensive relationships with foreign academics, foreign language skills, and working environment allow him to have easier access to many original sources of information, and he is "forced" to be very disciplined in his methods. He respects documents, "quantifies" scattered news which is very necessary to create objectivity. With a serious scientific method, the book brings confidence and strengthens the pride of those who love "Prison Diary".
