Mexican authorities rescued 113 migrants who were kidnapped and held in a house in the city of San Luis Río Colorado in the state of Sonora, bordering the US state of Texas.
Mexican police also arrested five suspects involved in the incident at the scene.
After being rescued, the migrants were taken to local medical facilities for health checks. Most were in stable condition and had no serious health problems.
The Sonora state prosecutor's office said the discovery of hundreds of kidnapped migrants came by chance while Mexican authorities were searching for a group of 10 other Colombian citizens who had also been kidnapped in San Luis Río Colorado.
This group of Colombians was later rescued.
The two rescues took place in the context of the policy of restricting immigration across the land border between the US and Mexico, also known as Article 42 drafted by the US, which will expire on May 11.
The end of Section 42 has raised concerns in the US that the flow of migrants seeking to enter the country will surge in the coming period.
On May 5, Mexican President Andres Manuel Lopez Obrador commented that the number of migrants transiting through Mexican territory to reach the United States will not increase dramatically after May 11.
