According to VNA special correspondent, at 9:00 p.m. on April 1 local time (0:00 a.m. on April 2 Hanoi time), National Assembly Chairman Tran Thanh Man and his wife Nguyen Thi Thanh Nga, along with a high-ranking delegation of the Vietnamese National Assembly, arrived in the capital Yerevan, beginning an official visit to the Republic of Armenia at the invitation of Armenian National Assembly Chairman Alen Simonyan.

Welcoming the delegation at Zvartnots Airport, capital of Yerevan were Vice Chairman of the National Assembly of Armenia Hakob Arshakyan; Ambassador of Armenia to Vietnam Suren Baghdasaryan; Head of the Armenia-Vietnam Friendship Parliamentarians Group Hasmik Hakobyan, leaders of the Foreign Affairs Department, Protocol Department of the National Assembly of Armenia; Ambassador of Vietnam to the Russian Federation, concurrently serving as Ambassador of Armenia Dang Minh Khoi, and officials and staff of the Embassy.

Since the establishment of diplomatic relations in 1992, the traditional friendship between Vietnam and Armenia has continued to develop positively. In terms of politics and diplomacy, Armenia considers Vietnam an important partner in the Southeast Asian region.

The two countries maintain delegation exchanges and contacts at all levels, including high-level ones. Recent highlights include the meeting between General Secretary To Lam and Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan on the occasion of attending the Francophone Summit (2024) and the official visit to Vietnam by National Assembly Speaker Alen Simonyan. The two sides coordinate and support each other at multilateral forums and frameworks, including the United Nations and the Francophone Community.

The Armenian Parliament has established the Armenia-Vietnam Parliamentary Friendship Group (2021).

Economic, trade and investment cooperation between the two countries has been actively promoted in recent years after the Free Trade Agreement between Vietnam and the Eurasian Economic Union (EAEU) took effect in 2016. Trade turnover in 2023 reached 342 million USD, and in 2024 reached nearly 500 million USD.

It is expected that during the visit, National Assembly Chairman Tran Thanh Man will hold talks and meetings with Armenia's top leaders; receive the Head of the Armenia-Vietnam Friendship Parliamentarians' Group; attend the Armenia-Vietnam Business Forum; and visit a number of local cultural and economic establishments.

The official visit to the Republic of Armenia by National Assembly Chairman Tran Thanh Man affirmed Vietnam's consistent policy of always attaching importance to and wishing to strengthen relations with traditional friendly countries, including Armenia; exchanging measures to promote cooperation between the Vietnamese National Assembly and the Armenian National Assembly; creating a favorable environment to promote bilateral cooperation, especially in the fields of economics, trade, investment, education, training, culture, etc../.
