Quang Tri Among the 12 martyrs' remains newly found in Hai Lang district, Collection Team 584 found a portrait with a pen and a water bottle with names engraved on them.
On the afternoon of April 5, the Quang Tri Provincial Military Command announced that from March 21 to April 3, Collection Team 584 discovered and collected 12 martyrs' remains in Hai Lam Commune, Hai Lang District. The remains were all wrapped and tied in hammocks, tulle curtains, along with many relics such as pistols, gas masks, watches, pens, and vases...

Among the relics is a plastic fountain pen with the words "MINH XO" on the top line, "XUÔN" (XUÔM) and "DÂN" (TAN) on the bottom line. The second relic is a metal vase with the words "BAC TUN" and a letter at the end that looks like the letter "G", but is unclear.
Notably, among the 12 martyrs' remains that were collected, one was buried with a personal wallet, inside of which was a piece of paper containing many pieces of metal (suspected to be needles) and a portrait.

After examination, the authorities determined that the characters "BAC TUNG" or "BAC HUNG" on the vase were likely the martyr's name. The characters "MINH XO" or "TRINH XO" on the pen body could also be the martyr's name. The characters "XUOM TAN" or "XUAN TAN" could be the martyr's place name or hometown.
Currently, the martyrs' remains are preserved at the martyrs' cemetery in Hai Lang district, awaiting the day of memorial service and burial.
During the war against the US, Quang Tri was one of the fiercest battlefields. The province has two of the largest national martyrs’ cemeteries in the country, Truong Son and Road 9, with more than 20,000 graves.
