Successfully coordinated the organization of the program "Spring Homeland 2024"

On December 30, the Committee for Overseas Vietnamese (OCV) of Ho Chi Minh City held a conference to review the work of OV in the city in 2024 and deploy directions and tasks for 2025.

The conference was attended by representatives of the City People's Committee, departments, branches and typical overseas Vietnamese. In 2024, the Ho Chi Minh City Committee for Overseas Vietnamese coordinated with many departments and branches to advise the City Party Committee and the City People's Committee on many activities. Together with departments and branches, many programs were organized: organizing trade, investment, tourism promotion and the event "Ho Chi Minh City - Chungcheongbuk Trade and Investment Cooperation Forum 2024" in Korea and "Ho Chi Minh City Day in Osaka, Japan", presenting 2 Vietnamese bookcases to the Overseas Vietnamese Association in Korea and Japan.

Deputy Head of the Ho Chi Minh City National Assembly Delegation Ha Phuoc Thang gave a speech directing the conference.

Coordinate and successfully organize art troupes to serve Vietnamese people abroad on the occasion of the Lunar New Year 2024 in European countries (Germany, Czech Republic, Hungary) from January 25, 2024 to February 6, 2024 and in Thailand from January 8, 2024 to February 14, 2024 according to invitations from the countries.

Received and organized a book donation ceremony sponsored by Dr. Vo Ta Han (overseas Vietnamese in the US) with 14,219 science and technology books from World Scientific Publishing House (Singapore) to universities, colleges, libraries, educational institutions in the city and provinces on the occasion of "Vietnamese Teachers' Day November 20", with a total value of more than 1.3 million USD.

Send an open letter calling on overseas Vietnamese to contribute to support and overcome the damage caused by storm No. 3 (Yagi storm) to their compatriots in some northern provinces. As of October 20, 2024, overseas Vietnamese in 17 countries and territories supported 18,005,062,373 VND, 2 tons of rice, 100 boxes of cakes; of which, overseas Vietnamese contributed through the Central Committee of the Vietnam Fatherland Front of Ho Chi Minh City with the amount of 166,199,996 VND.

In particular, in coordination with the State Committee for Overseas Vietnamese - Ministry of Foreign Affairs, successfully organized the program "Spring Homeland 2024" in Ho Chi Minh City, with the participation of leaders of central agencies and 1,500 overseas Vietnamese.

Continue to implement well the directions of the City Party Committee and People's Committee.

Speaking at the conference, Deputy Head of the Ho Chi Minh City National Assembly Delegation Ha Phuoc Thang said that in recent times, the Ho Chi Minh City Committee on Foreign Workers has effectively implemented the work on foreign workers in the area; effectively connecting Vietnamese diplomatic representative agencies in other countries with the city's leaders on the work of mobilizing foreign workers' resources.

To achieve the above achievements, it is impossible not to emphasize the support of the community of intellectuals, experts, and businessmen of the NVNƠNN who joined hands with the City and the creativity, responsibility, determination, and tireless efforts of the collective leadership, civil servants, and workers of the Committee on NVNƠNN which have been demonstrated through the effectiveness of the work of Vietnamese people to contribute to the development of the City.

Discussing at the conference, Associate Professor Bui Quoc Bao (a Vietnamese in France) assessed the important role of the Committee on Vietnamese intellectuals in connecting Vietnamese intellectual resources with the city and creating opportunities for connections between Vietnamese communities in other countries to converge in the city.

Businessman Jonathan Hanh Nguyen said that 2025 is the 40th anniversary of Vietnam opening an international flight route to the Philippines, breaking the embargo on Vietnam, opening a period of integration with the world. Businessman Jonathan Hanh Nguyen also hopes that in 2025, the City Committee for Overseas Vietnamese will continue to promote its role as a bridge, companion, and representative of the voice of overseas Vietnamese with the city's leaders to guide overseas Vietnamese to contribute more to the city's development.

Mr. Ha Phuoc Thang awarded a certificate of merit from the Chairman of Ho Chi Minh City People's Committee to the collective with outstanding achievements in mobilizing NVNN in the city.

Receiving the direction of the City leaders and the comments of overseas Vietnamese, Chairwoman of the Ho Chi Minh City Committee on Overseas Vietnamese Vu Thi Huynh Mai pledged to focus on implementing well the directions of the leaders of the City Party Committee and the City People's Committee and continue to coordinate effectively with the State Committee on Overseas Vietnamese - Ministry of Foreign Affairs to join hands to successfully implement the targets and tasks of the City, focusing on connecting and promoting overseas Vietnamese resources. Thereby promptly advising the City leaders to reward and honor the contributions of overseas Vietnamese in the construction and development of the City on the occasion of the 50th anniversary of the Liberation of the South and National Reunification (April 30, 1975 - April 30, 2025).
