Receiving artifacts of King Ham Nghi donated by descendants from France

(Fatherland) - The activity of receiving King Ham Nghi's artifacts is extremely important, not only for heritage conservation but also in evoking and honoring the historical values ​​of the nation.


On the afternoon of October 25, the Hue Monuments Conservation Center said that at the Vietnam Museum of Fine Arts, the unit's working delegation and the People's Committee of Cam Lo district (Quang Tri province) had a working session to receive artifacts of King Ham Nghi donated by his descendants.

Accordingly, these artifacts were directly handed over to the Vietnamese Embassy in Paris and the Vietnam Museum of Fine Arts by Dr. Amandine Dabat, the 5th generation descendant of King Ham Nghi, on behalf of the family, during a working trip to France in late September 2024, and were brought back to Vietnam by the Vietnamese Embassy in Paris immediately afterwards.

At the meeting, Mr. Nguyen Anh Minh, Director of the Vietnam Museum of Fine Arts, handed over the artifacts in their original packaging to Mr. Hoang Viet Trung, Director of the Hue Monuments Conservation Center and Mr. Nguyen Thanh Bac, Vice Chairman of the People's Committee of Cam Lo district.

Mr. Nguyen Thanh Bac, Vice Chairman of Cam Lo District People's Committee received the artifact.

These artifacts include: King Ham Nghi's mother-of-pearl inlaid wooden tray; King Ham Nghi's book set in Chinese characters (Royal book on the cultivation of trees; Dan do huyen chi; Tang dinh thi kinh the chu dien nghia); King Ham Nghi's smoking pipe.

The mother-of-pearl inlaid wooden tray and the Chinese book set will be handed over to the Hue Royal Antiquities Museum after being received. The artifact King Ham Nghi's smoking pipe will be received by the People's Committee of Cam Lo district to be displayed at the Temple of King Ham Nghi and the Can Vuong generals in the national relic site of Tan So citadel (Cam Chinh commune, Cam Lo district).

The repatriation of the artifacts provides a valuable opportunity for the people of the country, especially the younger generation, to admire and learn more about the patriotic king. The event also demonstrates the gratitude of Dr. Amandine Dabat, a descendant of King Ham Nghi, to his roots, and contributes to deepening the cultural cooperation between Vietnam and the world.
