Tien Giang enhances capacity for people with disabilities

(Dan sinh) - On August 10 and 11, in My Tho City, the Association for the Support of People with Disabilities and Orphans of Vietnam organized a training session for people with disabilities.

Attending the event were 110 delegates who are representatives and heads of Associations, groups and Clubs for the disabled in Tien Giang province.

At the training session, delegates with disabilities learned about improving capacity to participate in activities of Associations, groups and clubs for people with disabilities; improving capacity on gender equality and preventing gender-based violence.

Accordingly, Mr. Nguyen Trong Dam, Chairman of the Central Association, guided people with disabilities to understand the need to improve the capacity of association, group and club activities; equip group leaders with skills in organizing activities, managing group activities, presenting personal issues, sharing skills... and methods of operation in digital transformation.

Ms. Tran Thi Dung, Vice President of the Central Association, guided people with disabilities to learn about the law on gender equality, social assistance policies and gender-based violence with the following contents: Law on gender equality; gender mainstreaming in the field of social assistance; gender-based violence and its consequences; some issues related to people with disabilities.

Delegates attending the training received gifts from benefactors.

The Central Committee of the Association supports all travel expenses for the elderly participating in the program (for those within 35 km), and fully sponsors the expenses for food, accommodation, and rest at the international standard Mekong Hotel (4 stars).

In addition, the disabled also received gifts (including 200,000 VND and 1 box of cakes, worth 300,000 VND/piece) donated by Ms. Nguyen Thi Kim Loan (Central Committee of the Sponsoring Association) mobilized from benefactors.

According to Mr. Nguyen Trong Dam, Chairman of the Central Association: the training session not only improves the capacity of people with disabilities but also creates opportunities for people with disabilities to exchange and share, helping them become more confident in life.
