Attending the workshop were comrade Nguyen Thi Thu Huong - Member of the Standing Committee, Head of the Provincial Party Committee's Propaganda Department and representatives of departments, branches and localities in the province.
The particularly difficult area of Nghe An is a special area, located in the West of the province, with a particularly important strategic position in terms of socio-economics, national defense - security and regional ecological environment. This is an ethnic minority and mountainous area spread over 11 districts and towns with a natural area of 13,745 km2 , accounting for 83% of the province's total area; population of 1,197,628 people, accounting for 36%; ethnic minorities have 491,267 people, accounting for 14.76% of the province's total population, including 47 ethnic groups living in the area, of which 5 ethnic minorities live in communities: Thai, Tho, Kho Mu, Mong, O Du. This area has 27 border communes, 24 of which are considered particularly disadvantaged, bordering 3 provinces (Xieng Khouang, Hua Phan, Bolikhamxay) of the Lao People's Democratic Republic.
This is an area with great potential in terms of land fund, forest resources, and minerals for developing and expanding agricultural and forestry production, mineral exploitation associated with processing industry. The ethnic minorities in the mountainous areas have a tradition of solidarity, patriotism, and trust in the leadership of the Party and State.
Building a strong and comprehensive new rural area in Nghe An mountainous region is both a requirement and aspiration of the ethnic people in the region and an important task for the cause of socio-economic development, ensuring long-term national defense and security of Nghe An province and the North Central region.
However, with the difficulty in physical conditions, large area requiring a lot of infrastructure investment (transportation, electricity, schools), limited resources, directing the construction of new rural areas at the commune level in the mountainous areas of Nghe An faces many difficulties.
In order to promote the process of building new rural areas in ethnic minority and mountainous areas, continue to promote the effectiveness and bring the National Target Program on New Rural Construction in the period of 2021-2025 in Nghe An province into depth, substance, efficiency and sustainability, Nghe An Provincial Political School in coordination with the Department of Agriculture and Rural Development, the Office of Coordination of the National Target Program on New Rural Construction of Nghe An province organized a scientific workshop with the theme: "Tasks and solutions for building new rural areas in extremely difficult areas of Nghe An province at present".
The workshop is a scientific forum to clarify the theoretical and practical basis of new rural construction in the extremely difficult areas of Nghe An province; summarize the achievements and lessons learned after the implementation of the National Target Program on New Rural Construction in ethnic minority and mountainous areas.
Thereby, defining tasks, proposing solutions to improve and ensure criteria for new rural construction in extremely disadvantaged communes, mountainous areas, border areas, and ethnic minority areas, contributing to creating strong and substantial changes, changing the face of rural areas in extremely disadvantaged areas.
At the workshop, the presentations and discussions focused on clarifying many contents such as: Issues arising in the process of implementing the National Target Program on New Rural Development in extremely difficult areas of Nghe An province at present. Building mechanisms and policies, promoting and concentrating resources to accelerate the process of building new rural areas in extremely difficult areas.
Delegates discussed and studied typical models and good practices in building new rural areas in mountainous communes, border areas, and ethnic minority areas to meet and perfect the criteria for building new rural areas, etc.
