After 14 years of implementing the National Target Program on New Rural Development (NTM), Quang Ninh is assessed to have achieved many great achievements. The rural landscape is increasingly prosperous, social amenities are improved, and people's incomes are gradually improved. Many economic models with high value, developing in the direction of ecology, environmental protection, and applying science and technology are increasingly being replicated in rural areas.
When the new rural development program was widely spread throughout the villages, the family of Ms. Phi Thi Oanh, Tan Hop village, Quang Tan commune (Dam Ha district) boldly converted 3 hectares of rice fields to grow guava. In recent years, when the VietGap process was widely popularized, Ms. Oanh's family also quickly approached this care method and applied it to her family's guava growing area. The economic profit from this model brought her family more than 100 million VND per year. Her family's life has also improved since then. Ms. Oanh said: Production according to the VietGAP process brings high value to agricultural products, thanks to which, the output is more sustainable, so my family continues to maintain the guava growing area according to this process.
As for Mr. Tran Van Dieu's family in Quang Long commune, Hai Ha district, with the encouragement and guidance of the local government, his family has also participated in converting the existing tea growing area to apply VietGAP care process. Thanks to that, for the past 2 years, his family's tea growing area has always achieved high quality, safety and has been prioritized by buyers. This direction also brings his family an income of nearly 100 million VND/year.
In order to promote economic development and improve the lives of rural people, in recent times, Quang Ninh province has paid special attention to restructuring the agricultural sector, researching and producing new varieties, productivity and quality; developing organic agriculture, developing chains of key agricultural products... Up to now, the province has planned 17 concentrated agricultural production areas and applied high technology in production. Maintaining over 1,000 hectares of crop areas certified to meet VietGAP standards; 94 hectares of high-quality rice; 420 establishments applying advanced quality management programs, 46 crop areas with codes.
In addition to restructuring the agricultural sector, to create momentum for the rural economy, the province also pays special attention to allocating preferential credit capital, encouraging credit institutions to lend to agriculture, farmers, and rural areas; supporting credit for cooperatives, enterprises, and rural households to develop production and business; improving access to credit... From this support, many farmers in the province have boldly implemented production development models, increased income, gradually formed commodity production, and promoted the rural economy.
For Ms. Nguyen Thi Thu, Co To town (Co To district), the loan capital entrusted by the Social Policy Bank has helped her family buy more machinery and raw materials for seafood processing. Ms. Thu shared: Thanks to the 100 million VND preferential loan from the Social Policy Bank, my family has invested in more cold storage, increased processing capacity, and expanded production capacity. Currently, the family's facility is creating jobs for 3 local workers, the income of each worker at the facility is 5-7 million VND/person/month.
Up to now, after 14 years of implementing the new rural development program, Quang Ninh's rural economy has had many positive changes. The average income of rural people has reached over 73 million VND/person/year. Rural people have gradually mastered the process of developing modern agriculture. Quang Ninh's rural areas are in the process of strong transformation towards advanced new rural areas and model new rural areas. These results are the driving force for the province to continue realizing the goal of making Quang Ninh's rural areas increasingly rich and modern, gradually narrowing the gap between regions in the province.
