(QBĐT) - Quang Binh is putting on a new look with attractive travel experiences. Not only famous for its scenic spots, Quang Binh tourism also brings new discoveries from nature tours to cultural spaces with strong identities. From unique river tourism routes to rustic Dung Village, each destination contributes to creating its own attraction for Quang Binh tourism this spring.
Against the flow of heritage
In early 2025, Phong Nha-Ke Bang Tourism Center officially launched a 10km river tourism route, connecting three famous destinations: Phong Nha, Chay River and Dark Cave. This journey offers visitors the experience of exploring majestic nature, contributing to promoting sustainable and environmentally friendly tourism.
Starting the journey, visitors will go upstream the Son River about 5km, immersing themselves in the peaceful countryside scenery with majestic limestone mountains and simple houses hidden in the poetic nature. The first stop is Phong Nha Cave, which possesses a beautiful stalactite system created by nature over hundreds of millions of years. If you want to continue exploring, visitors can choose Tien Son Cave, known as "a fairyland" with a magical and mysterious beauty.
After admiring the beauty of the caves, the journey continues with a cruise on the poetic Chay River. Along both banks, small suspension bridges span the blue water, creating a charming, peaceful and poetic scene. At noon, the boat stops at the Dark Cave restaurant to enjoy grilled chicken - a specialty with a strong local mountain flavor.
The highlight of the trip is the adventure activities at Dark Cave. Those who love thrills can try the 400m long zipline, swinging across the exciting Chay River. In addition, kayaking, water skiing or challenging the adventurous bridge jumping also bring new and exciting experiences.
Adam, a tourist from Australia, shared: “Throughout the journey, I was constantly amazed by the scenery here. The mountains in the distance were hidden in the brilliant sunset. Phong Nha is truly the most peaceful destination I have ever set foot in Vietnam. Not too bustling, the scenery is breathtaking, the people are friendly and especially, the nature here completely amazed me.”
According to Mr. Hoang Minh Thang, Director of Phong Nha-Ke Bang Tourism Center, the combination of nature exploration, river cruising and adventure sports experiences has created a unique attraction for the Phong Nha-Chay River-Dark Cave tourist route. This river tourism route will bring new experiences to visitors, while aiming to develop sustainable tourism, in line with the orientation of "Net Zero tourism" - a model towards balancing carbon emissions. Using electric boats and encouraging outdoor activities that do not harm the environment will be specific steps in this strategy. Not only does it bring an impressive journey, this model also affirms Quang Binh's steps in developing green and sustainable tourism.
Experience Dung Village
Less than 15 minutes from Dong Hoi city center, Dung Village Tourist Area (Thuan Vinh village, Thuan Duc commune) vividly recreates the rural scenery of the North Central region with its simple and rustic beauty. Amidst the modern pace of life, this place is like a "time machine" that brings visitors back to their childhood memories, to the peaceful days in Quang Binh. Stepping into Dung Village, visitors can easily feel the pure Vietnamese space with winding bamboo bridges, winding village roads shaded by green bamboo, and simple thatched roofs nestled in the middle of nature.
The highlight of the tourist area is Bau Dung Lake with its clear water reflecting the clouds and sky, dotted with bamboo bridges reminiscent of the countryside market or the afternoons of flying kites in childhood. Ms. Nguyen Thanh Mai, a tourist from Hanoi, shared: “The space here is recreated in a rustic and authentic way, from the thatched houses with mud walls to the small pond and rustic dishes. Coming here, I feel like I am reliving my childhood days, when I ran barefoot on the village road, breathing in the scent of new rice.”
Not only recreating the space, Lang Dung also brings visitors the typical cultural experiences of the North Central countryside. The rural market here vividly recreates the images of street vendors, trays of banh la, baskets of cassava... displayed in the most authentic way. Market vendors in traditional Vietnamese dresses, tilted conical hats, calling out with familiar voices reminding of childhood with grandmothers and mothers. Rustic dishes such as banh loc, banh beo, banh nam or candy cane... with the bold flavors of Quang Binh will awaken the memories of many generations.
In spring, Quang Binh also offers many unique “check-in” spots such as colorful flower gardens and community tourism spots. Those who love spiritual tourism can visit Hoang Phuc Pagoda, Than Dinh Mountain, Tam Thanh Nien Xung Phong Cave… and participate in many unique spring festivals. |
By the peaceful lake, under the rustic thatched roofs, Dung Village vividly depicts the old countryside. Mr. Vu Xuan Hai, representative of Dung Village Tourist Area, shared: “We want to create a space for the younger generation to feel more clearly about the Vietnamese village lifestyle, while helping the elderly to find memories of the past. Quang Binh is a land rich in cultural identity, but in the modern world, many traditional values are gradually forgotten. Dung Village is not only a tourist destination, but also a place to connect old values, contributing to diversifying local tourism products”.
Not following the luxurious resort model, Lang Dung focuses on recreating the village life in the most authentic way. From areca rows, wells, straw trees to earthenware jars, all are reminiscent of a peaceful countryside. If one day you want to leave the noisy city, find the rustic values of the Vietnamese countryside, Lang Dung is the ideal stop. Not only is it a place to explore, it is also a space to return, to remember, to love, to understand more about a Quang Binh rich in identity - where the homeland is not only an old place, but also an inseparable part of the soul.
