DNVN - In an effort to join hands in building Vietnam into an innovation center for research and development in the semiconductor field, Infineon Technologies has established a strategic partnership with Phenikaa - a well-known corporation in Vietnam with an innovative approach to education and technology.

The cooperation between the two parties was formalized through a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) signed on November 28, 2024, aiming to enhance IC design capabilities and promote technological advancement in Vietnam.

The collaboration is focused primarily at Phenikaa University, which is home to a state-of-the-art semiconductor training center. The MoU aims to strengthen Vietnam’s semiconductor ecosystem by nurturing talent, enhancing educational initiatives, collaborating on joint research projects, and promoting the development of cutting-edge technologies. Key areas of interest include robotics, Advanced Driver Assistance Systems (ADAS), autonomous vehicles, IoT devices, and semiconductor products.

Through this cooperation, the two parties will jointly build a knowledgeable and professionally proficient workforce to meet the needs of the rapidly growing semiconductor and high-tech industry in Vietnam. Infineon will support Phenikaa University in expanding its educational and training capabilities by investing in laboratory infrastructure and providing internship opportunities for its students.

The signing ceremony was held on November 28.

In addition, the partnership between the two parties also opens up opportunities for research projects that are relevant to industry needs, ensuring that students and researchers gain practical insights and experience into today's cutting-edge technologies.

Infineon’s role in this collaboration is to provide advanced development toolkits, technical support and essential resources for lab courses. These contributions aim to foster an environment that encourages innovation and creativity in Vietnam’s efforts to become a developed country in the global semiconductor market.

Furthermore, the cooperation can also be extended beyond education and training. By leveraging Phenikaa’s research capabilities and Infineon’s technological expertise, the two companies plan to jointly develop innovative products. These solutions are expected to address global challenges while enhancing Vietnam’s technological capabilities and position.

Mr. Chua Chee Seong, President and CEO, Infineon Technologies Asia Pacific, emphasized the importance of the partnership: “This collaboration underscores our unwavering commitment to driving innovation and empowering the next generation of engineers and researchers in Vietnam. Phenikaa’s vision and infrastructure provide an ideal platform for collaboration, and we look forward to achieving breakthroughs in IC design and beyond together.”

Associate Professor Ho Xuan Nang, Chairman of Phenikaa Group and Chairman of Phenikaa University Council, also shared the same view: “Our cooperation with Infineon marks an important step forward in Phenikaa University’s mission to be a pioneer in technology education and innovation in Vietnam. By combining our strengths, the two sides not only nurture young technology talents but also promote research and development of high-tech products to meet local and global needs.”

The cooperation between the two parties is part of a series of activities to celebrate Infineon's fifth anniversary of operations in Vietnam. Over the past half decade, Infineon has played an active role in shaping the country's semiconductor ecosystem, contributing to innovation, technical excellence and developing important partnerships.

As Vietnam strives to become a global hub for high-tech manufacturing and innovation, this partnership once again demonstrates Infineon’s long-term commitment to driving advancements in emerging technologies, providing transformational solutions that pave the way for a smarter, more connected future.
