On the evening of October 1, the Vietnamese chess team entered the final match of the mixed team event against host China.

In the final match, Vietnam fielded a team with three names: Lai Ly Huynh, Nguyen Thanh Bao and Nguyen Hoang Yen.
Compared to the loss to China in the qualifying round, the Vietnamese team had one change when Nguyen Thanh Bao replaced Nguyen Minh Nhat Quang.
Meanwhile, the three Chinese players participating in the final are Zhao Xinxin, Wang Yang and Wang Linna.
In the slow chess format, both players Lai Ly Huynh and Nguyen Hoang Yen lost, so the Vietnamese chess team accepted defeat against China.
However, the silver medal in the mixed chess team event is also considered a success for the Vietnamese Sports Delegation.
Notably, this is also the only medal the Vietnamese Sports Delegation won on the competition day of October 1.
That same evening, the hope in athletics, Nguyen Thi Oanh, participated in the 1500m final.
Unfortunately, the Vietnamese athlete only finished 7th and did not win a medal. Meanwhile, athlete Yavi Winfred Mutile (Bahrain) won the gold medal.
A few minutes later, Luong Duc Phuoc also failed to cause any surprise in the men's 1500m event when he finished 11th out of 12 with a time of 3 minutes 51.65 seconds.
The winners of this event were athlete Mohamad Al garAlg (Qatar) with a time of 3 minutes 38.36 seconds, Ajay Kumar Saroj (India, 3 minutes 38.94 seconds) and Jinson Johnson (India, 3 minutes 39.74 seconds).
