'Grassroots information is a special media force'

Speaking at the Conference, Mr. Nguyen Manh Hung - Member of the Party Central Committee, Minister of Information and Communications emphasized that grassroots information is a special and important force, with the power to reach every person and every household, creating a fundamental difference from other forms of communication.

With the characteristics of both being dispersed (large number of people working) and concentrated (connecting equipment), this working team, with a simple and familiar voice, has transmitted urgent information and important messages to solve many problems of people's livelihood and facilities.

2024 is the first year that the Ministry of Information and Communications organizes a Conference to promptly commend and honor collectives and individuals with outstanding achievements in grassroots information activities; encourage, motivate and create a forum for people working in grassroots information to exchange, connect, share good experiences and creative ways of doing things in grassroots information activities.

This is an important activity, becoming a festival for those working in grassroots information work at all levels across the country. The advanced models, whether collective or individual, regardless of region, age... all shine, representing the will and determination for the community and the country.

"We must consider grassroots information as a special media force and the approach of grassroots information is different from that of the press, closer to the people, using more people, and is an equally important force as the press, but they are at the last line," said Minister of Information and Communications Nguyen Manh Hung.

Minister Nguyen Manh Hung and Deputy Minister of Information and Communications Nguyen Thanh Lam awarded certificates of merit to national advanced models in grassroots information activities.

In March 2024, the Ministry of Information and Communications issued a Plan to organize and honor advanced models nationwide in grassroots information work in 2024 to promptly recognize, commend, and honor collectives and individuals with outstanding achievements in grassroots information work; discover new factors, advanced models, encourage, motivate, and replicate them nationwide.

The selection criteria are collectives and individuals with many outstanding achievements contributing to information and propaganda activities; having prestige and positive influence in the locality; being awarded in one of the following forms: Certificate of Merit, Certificate of Merit from the Government, Ministry of Information and Communications, central ministries, branches, Provincial People's Committees, District People's Committees, Department of Information and Communications... for outstanding achievements in information and propaganda activities at the grassroots level in 2023.
