Present at some car showrooms in Hanoi, the number of customers coming to see cars is very low, much lower than previous years.

“December 2023 is still the time of tax subsidies from the government, so the number of customers buying cars is quite large. However, this is the time between the old year and the new year, so the number of customers buying cars at the showroom is only a few people. It may be until the time near Lunar New Year that the market will be more exciting. Up to now, our company has sold the most pickup trucks,” said a sales staff at a Ford dealership located on Ton That Thuyet Street, My Dinh 2 Ward, Nam Tu Liem District, Hanoi.

At a KIA showroom located on Quang Trung Street, Yen Nghia Ward, Ha Dong District, staff here said that most customers bought cars since December 2023, some other customers are waiting for promotions and incentives from the dealer to buy cars, so recently the number of cars sold has been quite slow. "Currently, we only receive 1 to 2 customers a day to come to the showroom to see cars. The Seltos and Carnivar models are the most viewed by customers at the dealership. The number of products we sold compared to December has decreased a lot, last month was about 136 cars, this month only about 10 cars were sold" a KIA staff shared with reporters.

A sales staff at a Toyota car dealership located on Pham Hung Street, My Dinh 2 Ward, Nam Tu Liem District said: “The purchasing power in the first month of 2024 decreased a lot compared to the last month of 2023 because at the end of last year, car buyers were still taking advantage of a 50% reduction in registration fees as well as incentives from dealers to stimulate consumption. In my opinion, at the end of the year, people are looking to buy sedans to take their wives, children, and parents out for Tet or to reward themselves.”

“From now until the Lunar New Year, the car market will remain gloomy because those who want to buy cars have already bought them since the end of 2023 to enjoy incentives. At our showroom, we mainly sell GLC models to customers,” said a sales staff at the Mercedes-Benz showroom on Pham Hung Street, Nam Tu Liem District.
