Currently, the rice crop in Dong Hung and Hung Ha districts is growing and developing quite well. The early rice crop is currently in the stage of standing to panicle formation, and the mass rice crop is in the final stage of tillering to panicle differentiation. Through monitoring by the professional sector, the fifth generation of small leaf rollers has two peaks of damage; in which, peak 1 is expected to bloom from August 10 to 14 with a common density of ²⁰ larvae/m2, high places 40 - 60 larvae/ ^m2 , locally 100 - 150 larvae/ ^m2 , damaging panicle leaves and functional leaves of early rice crop before August 31 in the northern districts and areas near villages, areas with high pest density. The area of this phase of prevention is about 4,000 hectares, mainly concentrated in Hung Ha and Dong Hung districts.

To ensure the safety of the winter-spring rice area, Dong Hung district launched a campaign to spray pesticides to prevent and control small leaf rollers from August 11 to 13; Hung Ha district launched a campaign from August 12 to 14. In addition, Dong Hung district directed localities to combine prevention and control of stem borers in areas with high sources of pests.

Checking the growth process and disease developments on winter-spring rice in the fields of Dong Xa commune (Dong Hung), Kim Trung (Hung Ha), the Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee requested the agricultural sector to coordinate with localities to closely monitor the fields, do a good job of investigation, detection, prediction and prediction; propagate and guide farmers to be proactive in pest prevention and control. In the immediate future, effectively organize the prevention and control of small leaf rollers for the rice area that is about to flower in August and the surrounding areas of villages concentrated in Hung Ha and Dong Hung districts. The peak of 2 small leaf rollers is expected to cause widespread damage throughout the province, so the agricultural sector needs to have a plan to closely inspect and monitor pests in the fields to advise all levels and sectors to direct resolutely, promptly and effectively prevent and control, avoiding subjectivity and negligence that cause local crop failure.
