On the afternoon of June 20, the General Department of Sports and Physical Training (Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism) held a press meeting to celebrate the 98th anniversary of Vietnam Revolutionary Press Day (June 21, 1925 / June 21, 2023).

At the meeting, Deputy Director General of the General Department of Sports and Physical Training Le Thi Hoang Yen reported on the results of the implementation of tasks in the first 6 months of 2023. Regarding high-performance sports, Vietnamese sports competed excellently, winning 751 international medals; exceeding the target and ranking No. 1 overall at the 32nd SEA Games.

Regarding mass sports, the whole industry has actively directed the implementation of the Campaign "All people exercise following the example of great Uncle Ho"; Olympic running day for the health of all people and month of physical education and sports activities; coordinated with localities to organize 13 national mass sports tournaments, 1 international sports tournament in Vietnam...

Regarding the key tasks in the last 6 months of 2023, Vietnamese sports focus on preparing forces to participate in the 2022 Asian Games (ASIAD 19) in China, the World Beach Games in Indonesia, the 6th Indoor and Martial Arts Games in Thailand... In addition, key athletes in national teams are also actively training and competing towards the qualifying tournaments for the 2024 Paris Olympics.

Since July 1, the General Department of Sports and Physical Training has officially changed its name to the Department of Sports and Physical Training under the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism.
