On September 20, Giang Hai Commune Police (Phu Loc District, Thua Thien Hue) received a rare wild animal voluntarily handed over by a local resident.
It was a reticulated python weighing about 10kg, handed over by Mr. Truong Vinh (born in 1978, residing in Nghi Xuan village, Giang Hai commune).

Previously, at around 6:30 a.m. on September 20, while fishing in the lagoon, Mr. Vinh discovered a reticulated python crawling into a bamboo trap (a V-shaped fishing tool made from net and bamboo strips).
Knowing that this is a rare wild animal that needs to be preserved, Mr. Vinh captured the python and reported it to Giang Hai Commune Police.
Upon receiving the information, Giang Hai Commune Police received and handed over the python to Phu Loc District Forest Protection Department to release it into the natural environment according to regulations.

The reticulated python has the scientific name Python reticulatus, belonging to the List of endangered, precious, and rare forest animals, group IIB, as stipulated in Decree No. 84/2021/ND-CP dated September 22, 2021 of the Government on amending and supplementing a number of articles of Decree 06/2019/ND-CP dated January 22, 2019 of the Government on management of endangered, precious, and rare forest plants and animals.
