The 2025 university entrance exam is gradually "heating up" with separate exams. During the last 2 days of this weekend, 2 exams were held and attracted thousands of candidates to participate.
Ho Chi Minh City National University's Aptitude Test
On the morning of March 30, about 126,000 candidates nationwide entered the first round of the 2025 Competency Assessment Test (CAP) organized by Ho Chi Minh City National University. This is the exam with the largest number of candidates registered in the past 8 years. Ho Chi Minh City leads the country in the number of candidates taking the exam with more than 51,000 students.
According to statistics from Ho Chi Minh City National University, the number of candidates registered for the exam was 128,338; the exam participation rate was 98.42% (more than 126,000 candidates).
The assessment test consists of 120 objective multiple choice questions with 150 minutes to complete and is done on paper. The score scale for the test is 1,200.
By 2025, more than 100 universities and colleges across the country will use the results of this exam for admission.

CMC-Test of CMC University
On the morning of March 29, more than 1,000 12th graders participated in the first round of the Competency Assessment Test (CMC-Test) at 3 schools: Cau Giay High School, Phuc Loi High School and CMC University. In addition to the candidates present in person, the school also organized an online test for candidates in provinces and cities outside of Hanoi.
The Competency Assessment Test (CMC Test) is organized in the form of multiple choice tests on computers, with a total test time of 90 minutes. The test consists of 3 parts: Mathematics (30 questions), Logical Thinking (20 questions) and English (30 questions).
Associate Professor, Dr. Nguyen Thanh Tung - Vice Principal of CMC University said: "The results of the CMC Test will be used to select suitable candidates for admission to the University. However, to be officially recognized as admitted, candidates need to register their wishes to the University on the general admission system of the Ministry of Education and Training within the prescribed time."
According to the plan, the school will organize a total of 5 competency assessment exams lasting until the end of May 2025, with an expected 10,000 candidates registering and 8,000 candidates participating. This year, the school will enroll 1,510 students in 15 majors and training programs according to 4 admission methods, including: Competency Assessment Exam Results (CMC-TEST); Review of academic records; High School Exam Scores and direct admission.
V-SAT Exam of University of Finance - Marketing
The computer-based university entrance assessment test is organized by the University of Finance - Marketing V-SAT-UFM according to the draft of the University's Admissions Plan in 2025. This test is designed to comprehensively assess candidates' knowledge and skills, serving the admission to the University's training programs.
Five V-SAT administrations are scheduled between April and May 2025.
Phase 1: April 12-13, 2025 at District 7 facility, Ho Chi Minh City (27 Tan My, Tan Thuan Tay ward, District 7).
Phase 2: April 19-20, 2025 at University of Finance and Accounting, Quang Ngai (No. 2 Le Quy Don, La Ha, Tu Nghia, Quang Ngai).
Phase 3: May 10-11, 2025 at District 7 facility, Ho Chi Minh City.
Phase 4: May 17-18, 2025 at University of Finance and Accounting, Quang Ngai.
Round 5: May 24-25, 2025 at District 7, Ho Chi Minh City. Candidates can choose the exam round and location that suits them.
The V-SAT exam consists of 8 independent subjects: Math, Physics, Chemistry, Biology, English, History, Geography and Literature. Candidates can register for 1 to 8 subjects, depending on their needs and admission requirements of the major. The time for Math and Literature is 90 minutes, the remaining subjects are 60 minutes.
The exam content is within the high school curriculum, mainly grade 12 (about 90%), the rest is from grade 10 and 11. Each exam consists of 25 questions with about 85 sub-items, designed to comprehensively assess the knowledge and skills of candidates.
Hanoi National University's Aptitude Test
According to the Hanoi National University Examination Center, the 2025 HSA is expected to have nearly 100 universities and academies using the exam results for admission.
This year's exam is organized in 6 rounds, the earliest round takes place on March 15-16 and the latest round takes place on May 17-18.
The Hanoi National University's Aptitude Test consists of two compulsory parts: Mathematics - Data Processing (50 questions, 75 minutes) and Literature - Language (50 questions, 60 minutes). The third part is optional (50 questions, 60 minutes). Candidates choose Science or English. Candidates take the test on a computer. Candidates check the results and receive a certificate after 14 days of taking the test. The test scores are used by about 90 universities for admission.
Thinking assessment test of Hanoi University of Science and Technology
In 2025, Hanoi University of Science and Technology plans to organize 3 thinking assessment exams in January-April 2025 with about 75,000 participants, an increase of 25,000 compared to this year.
The exam consists of three parts: Mathematical Thinking (60 minutes), Reading Comprehension (30 minutes) and Scientific Thinking/Problem Solving (60 minutes). These are three independent parts, the questions focus on assessing the candidate's thinking ability, not directly testing knowledge of any subject.
The test is a multiple choice test on a computer. The total score is 100. The test results are used by about 50 universities for admission.
