In recent times, along with the forestry sector of the country in general and Binh Thuan province in particular, the production and business activities of Binh Thuan Forestry One Member Co., Ltd. have also had their own advantages and difficulties. However, overcoming difficulties, this state-owned enterprise still exceeded its set targets. At the same time, it determined to apply advanced science and technology to management and production and business activities to suit the current situation.
Advantages mixed with challenges
Binh Thuan Forestry One Member Co., Ltd. (the Company) is a 100% state-owned enterprise under the People's Committee of Binh Thuan province. In the past year, the selling price of planted forests fluctuated in an upward direction, so the consumption of the company's products was effective. This helped the company successfully complete the assigned plan targets for the year, ensuring financial cash flow for production and business activities. In addition, the Government issued a policy to reduce value added tax from 10% to 8% in 2024, which helped the company reduce costs in production and business, reduce product prices appropriately to stimulate demand for wooden products and some other related products.
However, according to the company's leaders, the company's financial situation has recently encountered many difficulties due to having to pay taxes arising from the Song Phan natural forest area of nearly 9 billion VND, which have not yet been resolved or removed by competent authorities. Wood processing activities are ineffective, production is at a standstill. In addition, the retail system has not shown signs of improvement due to the impact of competition from cheap products from the outside market. In parallel, the current reality is that people's consumption has decreased, the price of input materials has increased, leading to increased product costs, leading to lower revenue from retail activities than planned.
On the other hand, difficulties continue as deforestation, encroachment and re-encroachment of land are still complicated, especially in Hoa Thang area (Bac Binh) and Song Phan natural forest area (Ham Tan). Prolonged hot weather in the planted forest area also affects the growth of planted forests, such as in some areas such as Dong Cat - Ham Thuan Nam, causing some planted forest areas to die due to drought, causing property damage and affecting production activities...
Development direction in 2025
In such favorable and difficult conditions, the company has focused on silviculture and forest management and protection (QLBVR) over the past year. Of which, the forest planting area is 865.91ha/749.52ha, reaching 115.53% of the assigned plan. One of the highlights in forest planting activities is that the company focuses on improving land and underdeveloped forests. At the same time, it boldly invested funds to renovate and plant more than 300ha of underdeveloped forests, and dig up hybrid acacia roots after exploitation for new planting, in order to further improve the quality of planted forests. At the same time, it focuses on the quality of forest seedlings, in order to improve the quality of planted forests. The company has reclaimed 44ha of encroached land and put it into forest planting in 2024 in Bac Binh district.
Regarding the consumption of planted forests, in the past year, the total exploited area was 848.82 ha/862.42 ha, reaching 98.42% of the plan. The company has gradually promoted the effectiveness of the FSC FM/CoC Forest Certification to increase the value of the forest lots sold during the year. The company has done quite well in preventing cases of land encroachment, deforestation, and forest clearing for farming...
At a recent related conference, Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee Nguyen Hong Hai requested Binh Thuan Forestry One Member Co., Ltd. to further promote its spirit and responsibility to perform well the assigned tasks. In particular, it is necessary to have a strategic solution to develop the company more effectively to improve production and business activities, increase income for workers, and contribute to the socio-economic development of the province. At the same time, coordinate with departments and branches to review and study the implementation plan to reorganize, innovate, and develop Binh Thuan Forestry One Member Co., Ltd. Strengthen coordination with related departments, branches, and localities to perform assigned tasks, especially in forest land management. According to the company's leaders, based on the results achieved in 2024, the Company will continue to propose directions and solutions to carry out production and business tasks. Along with that, balance and re-plan the entire area of planted forests and the process of the Sustainable Forest Management Plan. Continue to invest in large timber forests, focus on intensive planting forests, combined with effective land management and environmental protection. Focus on protecting natural forests, planted forests and land to avoid encroachment and loss of assets. Focus on solutions to access and generate revenue from carbon credits from planted forests, natural forests; cooperate in investing in biochar production... At the same time, apply advanced science and technology to management and production and business activities to suit the current situation.
The company's main targets for 2025: Revenue of 64.5 billion VND; pre-tax profit of 4.82 billion VND; after-tax profit of 3.856 billion VND. Budget contribution of 6.89 billion VND. Average income of 8.6 million VND/person/month. Production and business targets: Afforestation of 671.02 ha; exploitation of planted forests of 1,004.72 ha; care of planted forests of 9,571.07 ha; forest management and protection of 18,836.17 ha; wood processing of 5.4 billion VND; production of 1,550,000 seedlings.
