Speaking at the New Year's greetings to the Phnom Penh Capital Administrative Committee, Kien Giang Provincial Party Secretary Nguyen Tien Hai expressed his gratitude for the warm, friendly and thoughtful welcome from the leaders of Phnom Penh. He expressed his impression of the remarkable development of Cambodia in general and Phnom Penh in particular. Through the reality of walking on the streets of the capital, it is easy to see the spacious and modern constructions; the urban appearance is clean, beautiful and orderly; the economy, culture and society have made many remarkable strides.

On behalf of the delegation, Provincial Party Secretary Nguyen Tien Hai congratulated the achievements that the brotherly country of Cambodia and the capital Phnom Penh have achieved in recent times. He emphasized that Vietnam and Cambodia are two neighboring countries with a tradition of solidarity, friendship, and close ties from the period of national liberation struggle to the period of peaceful national construction.

That fine tradition continues to be promoted in the new era, clearly demonstrated through high-level visits and meetings, cooperation at international forums and relations between localities of the two countries.

In particular, the border localities of the two sides have a close relationship between the forces on duty and the people, together building a border area of ​​peace, friendship, cooperation and development.

The Provincial Party Secretary said that Kien Giang is one of 13 provinces and cities in the Mekong Delta, geographically adjacent to the sea and land border with Cambodia, managing a large sea area, having a long coastline, and a rapidly developing economy in the region.

Mr. Chhay Vireak - Deputy Mayor of Phnom Penh capital delivered a speech in response to the New Year greetings from the Kien Giang province delegation.

In 2024, the province's economic growth rate will reach 7.5%; all cultural and social fields will achieve positive results; the poverty rate will drop below 1%. Kien Giang province was selected by the Central Government as the host of the APEC 2027 conference. The province is actively preparing the necessary conditions to organize this event well, and hopes to receive close coordination from the Government and localities of Cambodia, especially the capital Phnom Penh, for the conference to be a great success.

Comrade Nguyen Tien Hai expressed his wish to welcome the leaders of the capital Phnom Penh to visit Kien Giang and Phu Quoc City in the near future. On the occasion of the New Year, the delegation wished the leaders and people of the capital Phnom Penh good health, happiness, rapid and sustainable development; wished the Cambodian people a joyful and warm traditional New Year; wished the capital Phnom Penh to reap many new achievements in the new year, better than in 2024.

Speaking at the reception of the delegation wishing Kien Giang province a happy new year, Mr. Chhay Vireak - Deputy Mayor of Phnom Penh said that the two localities have had many effective cooperations in the past time, achieving good results. Within the framework of cooperation between Vietnam and Cambodia, the relationship between Phnom Penh and Kien Giang not only stops at bilateral exchanges but also shows mutual support at international forums.

Mr. Chhay Vireak informed that Phnom Penh has developed rapidly and comprehensively, becoming the administrative, political, cultural, security and diplomatic center of Cambodia. Currently, the capital has an area of ​​over 60,000km², with a population of over 2 million people.

Regarding tourism, in 2024, Phnom Penh will welcome more than 1 million visitors from Vietnam. Vietnamese investors currently rank third in terms of investment capital in Phnom Penh. The Cambodian government continues to improve the investment environment, expand market mechanisms, and encourage foreign enterprises to invest, including Vietnam. Cambodia's young workforce of up to 3 million people, well-trained, contributes to promoting the development of areas such as transportation, tourism, logistics, science, technology, etc.

Mr. Chhay Vireak highly appreciated the traditional relationship, solidarity and effective cooperation between the capital Phnom Penh and Kien Giang province, which is demonstrated through delegation exchanges, friendship exchanges and annual New Year greetings. On behalf of the leaders and people of the capital, he sincerely thanked the delegation of Kien Giang province for visiting and wishing them a happy new year on the occasion of the traditional Chol Chnam Thmay New Year.

On the afternoon of April 3, while offering New Year greetings to the General Department of National Police and the Gendarmerie Command of the Royal Cambodian Army, Secretary of the Kien Giang Provincial Party Committee Nguyen Tien Hai emphasized that Vietnam and Cambodia are two neighboring countries sharing land and sea borders, and have gone through a history of fighting against foreign invaders and gaining national independence. The tradition of solidarity, loyalty, and standing shoulder to shoulder during the war is an important foundation for the two countries to continue to cooperate and develop in peacetime.

After the two countries gained independence, the friendly relationship between the two Parties and States, especially between the armed forces of the two countries, continued to be nurtured and developed. The armies and police of the two sides always closely coordinate in maintaining security and order, fighting and preventing crimes, especially transnational crimes, non-traditional crimes, drug crimes, human trafficking, fraud, etc.

The Secretary of the Kien Giang Provincial Party Committee highly appreciated the coordinating role of Cambodian armed units, including the gendarmerie and police forces at all levels, which have effectively supported Kien Giang province in protecting the peaceful and friendly border, ensuring political security and social order and safety in the border area. People on both sides of the border not only maintain solidarity and mutual support but also jointly develop the economy and build an increasingly stable life.

Comrade Nguyen Tien Hai sent New Year wishes to generals, officers, and soldiers of the Cambodian gendarmerie and police forces, wishing them a new year of peace, happiness, and many new achievements.

In his reply, Lieutenant General Se Vuth Thy - Deputy Commander of the Gendarmerie Command of the Royal Cambodian Army expressed his deep gratitude to the Vietnamese volunteers and experts who helped Cambodia escape the genocidal regime. He affirmed that the tradition of friendship between the two countries is a priceless asset that needs to be taught to the younger generation, and that no force can divide that solidarity.

Lieutenant General Se Vuth Thy pledged that the Cambodian gendarmerie will continue to closely coordinate with Vietnamese units in maintaining order, preventing and combating crime, ensuring border security and protecting the friendship between the two peoples.

He said that in the past, the two sides had organized many information exchanges between border provinces, bringing practical results.

General Kang Khorn hopes to continue to strengthen coordination with Kien Giang province in ensuring security and order along the border, both by land and sea, towards building a border of peace, friendship and sustainable development.
