This morning, January 22, in Da Nang City, the Naval Region 3 Command organized a meeting with a delegation of localities, units, and press agencies to visit and extend New Year greetings to the soldiers and people of Con Co island district (Quang Tri) and Ly Son (Quang Ngai) from January 21-25. Attending were representatives of the Naval Region 3 Command, localities, agencies, units, enterprises, and 33 reporters from central and local press agencies. Political Commissar of the Naval Region 3 Command, Rear Admiral Nguyen Dang Tien said that in order to meet the requirements of the task of protecting the sovereignty of the sea and islands of a unified Vietnam, on October 26, 1975, the Ministry of National Defense issued a decision to establish the Coastal Region 3 under the Naval Command with the task of managing and protecting the sea and islands from the South of Hai Van Pass (Da Nang) to Ke Ga Cape (Binh Thuan).
Along with the development process and new mission requirements, on October 27, 1978, the Ministry of National Defense issued a decision to reorganize naval regions, accordingly, Coastal Region 3 was renamed Naval Region 3 with the task of managing and protecting the sea and islands of 7 Central provinces, from Deo Ngang (Quang Binh) to Cu Lao Xanh (Binh Dinh) and ready to support other sea regions when ordered.
Since then, under the leadership and direction of the Central Military Commission and the Ministry of National Defense, directly by the Party Committee and the Navy Command, with the coordination and support of the armed forces, authorities and people in the stationed area, Naval Region 3 has continuously grown and always excellently fulfilled its assigned tasks.
Over the past time, along with the attention of the Party and State, Naval Region 3 has always received attention, support and facilitation from local authorities, units and enterprises nationwide.
With the motto "mainland towards distant islands", "for the homeland's sea and islands", the visit and New Year greetings on the island districts of Con Co and Ly Son will contribute to encouraging cadres, soldiers and people on the islands to work and live with peace of mind and celebrate the traditional national New Year joyfully, warmly and happily.

On this occasion, the Naval Region 3 Command will transfer more than 250 gifts, with a total value of more than 750 million VND to officers, soldiers, and forces on duty on the islands. At the same time, receive, transport, and coordinate the delivery of gifts from localities, agencies, organizations, businesses, and individuals, including cash and gifts with a total value of more than 1.86 billion VND to officers, soldiers of Naval Region 3 and the military and people on Con Co and Ly Son island districts.
