On April 18, as part of the 21st Whale Festival, the Department of Agriculture and Rural Development of Bac Lieu coordinated with the People's Committee of Dong Hai District to release 4.7 million shrimp fry at Ganh Hao estuary (Dong Hai District) to contribute to the regeneration of aquatic resources.
The above shrimp seeds were mobilized by the Department of Agriculture and Rural Development of Bac Lieu and the People's Committee of Dong Hai District from companies, enterprises and shrimp seed production and trading establishments in Bac Lieu province. All shrimp seeds are of the right size, have been quarantined, and are guaranteed to grow well in the natural environment.

Mr. Tran Tuan Kiet, Chairman of Dong Hai District People's Committee, said that releasing shrimp is an annual activity of the district to raise people's awareness in protecting and exploiting aquatic resources. Along with releasing shrimp, the authorities also propagate to fishermen to understand and strictly implement regulations on aquatic products, combat IUU fishing, actively participate in staying at sea, and protect the sovereignty of the sea and islands of the Fatherland.
Mr. Kiet added that in recent years, the activities of protecting, regenerating and developing aquatic resources of Dong Hai district have achieved many encouraging results. To restore the farming resources, each year, the district releases more than 4 million shrimp fry into the natural environment.
