Rules: 2024 Vietnam Salt Art Photo Contest - Bac Lieu, theme "A hundred-year journey of the salt profession"

(NADS) - The Vietnam Association of Photographic Artists announces the rules of the 2024 Vietnam - Bac Lieu Salt Art Photo Contest with the theme "A hundred-year journey of the salt profession - Human life".

- Pursuant to Plan No. 98/KH-UBND dated June 27, 2024 of the Provincial People's Committee on the implementation of tasks to organize the Vietnam - Bac Lieu Salt Festival in 2024;

- Pursuant to Plan No. 96/KH-VHNT dated July 31, 2024 of the Union of Literature and Arts Associations of Bac Lieu province on organizing the 2024 Vietnam Salt Art - Bac Lieu News Photo Contest;

The Union of Literature and Arts Associations of Bac Lieu Province (Union of Associations) announces the launch of the 2024 Vietnam Salt Art Photo Contest - Bac Lieu as follows:

I. PURPOSE, MEANING

- The 2024 Vietnam - Bac Lieu Salt Festival is one of the important activities of Bac Lieu province in 2024; at the same time, it is also an activity to honor the salt making profession in the whole country in general, Bac Lieu in particular. This is the first Festival in the country about the salt profession, thereby contributing to enhancing the value of salt grains, suggesting new directions to help salt grains grow strongly, affirming the Bac Lieu Salt brand as well as the Bac Lieu salt making profession which has been recognized as a National Intangible Cultural Heritage.

- In that spirit, the 2024 Vietnam - Bac Lieu Salt Art Photo Contest is one of the main activities of the Festival to create conditions for artists and photographers inside and outside the province to have creative inspiration on the topic of salt through the perspective of literature and art. At the same time, through the contest, artistic photos about the salt industry and the lives of salt workers will be discovered from in-depth perspectives, with the power to spread through images, contributing to serving the needs of the masses to perceive and enjoy literature and art.

The contest also creates conditions for the public inside and outside the province to better understand the achievements of the Party Committee, government and people of Bac Lieu in the process of integration and development. Especially the efforts in building and promoting the traditional cultural values ​​of the salt production profession and improving the lives of salt farmers who have been associated with salt for generations.

II. THEME "THE HUNDRED-YEAR JOURNEY OF SALT MAKING - HUMAN LIFE"

- Contest photos must show the image of a hundred years of salt making, the profound meaning of salt workers' lives associated with salt grains. At the same time, they must show the will, efforts and aspirations of the entire Party Committee and people of the province in the process of building a rich and civilized homeland.

- Focus on the dynamism of Bac Lieu homeland in the process of integrating Bac Lieu salt, creating an impression, creating a brand and trust in product quality to reach out to the region, country and international.

- Prioritize works with new, creative thinking and artistic qualities; works that deeply reflect the value of salt grains associated with the ups and downs of the homeland, associated with human life through the aspirations of progress and development of Bac Lieu land and people.

Praise activities for sustainable salt industry development associated with environmental preservation and protection; good and effective economic models; activities for processing finished salt for daily use, use in medicine, chemistry - cosmetics... contributing to improving output and quality, bringing high economic value to salt farmers.

III. RULES

- The contest is sponsored by the Vietnam Association of Photographic Artists.

- Contestants: The contest is open to all professional and amateur photographers currently living, working and studying nationwide. Each author can only use 1 name or 1 pen name.

- Scope of photography: Photos taken within the territory of Vietnam, reflecting the traditional salt production profession and salt-processed products.

Photo shoot time: There is no regulation on photo shoot time.

- Number of works submitted: Each author can submit no more than 15 works.

How to submit photos: Authors submit directly to the website http://www.anhtsntmuoibaclieu2024.com and follow the instructions on the website. Contest photos are in the form of digital image files, JPG format. The longest dimension of the photo is at least 3,000 px, capacity not exceeding 6Mb (No captions or author names on the photo). The Jury will judge online the first rounds, then at the exhibition round, the authors will be notified to enlarge the 40x60 photos to send to the Organizing Committee to judge and choose the solution directly on the paper photo.

- The Organizing Committee accepts photoshopped images, but they must not deviate from real life; photos created by Artificial Intelligence (AI) are not accepted, and photos with unrealistic ideas are not accepted. If necessary, the Organizing Committee will ask the author to submit the original file to verify the information.

- Authors can submit photos in color or black and white, and can submit single photos or photo series:

+ Single photo: Each photo is a work. In case the author submits both single photos and photo series, the single photo must not be the same as the photo in the photo series.

+ Photo series: Each photo series is considered a work, consisting of 05 to 08 photos (with 01 completed mockup). The Organizing Committee encourages photo series to have a caption (maximum 150 words) introducing the content of the photo series (on the website receiving photos, there will be specific instructions when the author submits the photos).

Works with the theme of salt that have won A prize (or equivalent) at the provincial level; won A, B, C prize (or equivalent) at the regional level; won A, B, C prize (or equivalent) at the national level are not eligible to participate.

- The participating authors must be legally responsible for their works. The Organizing Committee is not responsible for any disputes related to copyright of the works. The Organizing Committee is allowed to remove works that violate the rules before, during and after the contest and not consider the award (if any).

- The decision of the Jury is final after receiving the unanimous opinion of the Head of the Organizing Committee. The author submitting the photo is of course agreeing to accept the rules of the Organizing Committee.

- Members of the Organizing Committee and the Jury are not allowed to submit photos. Members of the Jury and authors do not directly exchange information about the entries during the judging process. If there are any comments, judges and authors will discuss them with the Head of the Organizing Committee of the contest.

IV. TIME TO RECEIVE AND SCORING PHOTOS

- Time to receive photos: from the date of announcement to 17:00 on February 15, 2025

- Expected photo judging date: December 2024

Award ceremony and photo exhibition: Will take place on the occasion of the Vietnam Salt Festival - Bac Lieu 2024 in March 2025 in Bac Lieu province.

V. JUDGES

VI. PRIZES

The Organizing Committee will select 100 exhibition photos, of which:

- 1 First Prize: Certificate and prize money: 7,000,000 VND

- 2 Second Prizes: Certificate and prize money: 5,000,000 VND

- 3 Third Prizes: Certificate and prize money: 3,000,000 VND

- 5 Consolation Prizes: Certificate and prize money: 2,000,000 VND

Photos selected for exhibition will be paid 200,000 VND/photo.
