Nha Trang photographer wins top award from Royal Photographic Society of Thailand

This is a contest organized by The Thai Beverage Public Company in collaboration with the Royal Photographic Society of Thailand, for photographers from 10 ASEAN countries.

Inspired by Nha Trang coral reefs

The work "Natural vitality in the heart of the coastal city" by photographer Ho Trung Lam was awarded the Grand Prize, the highest award of this year's contest, and was announced to be awarded 2,860 USD.

Speaking to Tuoi Tre Online on the afternoon of September 16, Mr. Lam could not hide his joy at winning the highest prize of the contest. The photographer said that he took the photo at Hon Chong beach (Nha Trang city) at night.

The highlight of the photo is the coral reef in the Hon Chong sea area, in the distance are the sparkling lights from the row of high-rise buildings along the coastal road, creating a unique scene.

The photo combines the natural elements of the coral reef and the modern development of Nha Trang City.

To create the above work, Mr. Lam said he had to choose the right time, taking pictures many times at the beginning or end of the month, when the sea level is low, revealing the coral reefs on the sea.

"It took me a long time to get the photo I wanted.

The theme of this year's contest is to honor natural values ​​and biodiversity, so I chose this photo to enter the contest to promote and spread the message of environmental protection and the vitality of nature to everyone" - Mr. Lam shared.

With the highest award announced by the Royal Photographic Society of Thailand on September 14, the work "Natural Vitality in the Heart of the Coastal City" by photographer Ho Trung Lam will be displayed at the Sustainability Expo 2024, taking place at the Queen Sirikit National Convention Center (Bangkok, Thailand) from September 27 to October 6.

The teacher loves photography

Having taught literature at Tran Hung Dao High School (Cam Ranh City) for 13 years, Mr. Lam is currently working at the Department of Education and Training of Nha Trang City. But at the same time, he is also a member of the Vietnam Association of Photographic Artists.

Mr. Lam said his passion for photography came to him when he was a student at Quy Nhon Pedagogical University (now Quy Nhon University). At that time, he saw his classmates often carrying cameras to take pictures, so he learned about it and gradually became passionate about photography.

"Although I work in the education sector, my passion for photography has remained with me for many years," said Mr. Lam.

The proof is that this teacher - artist has won many photography awards.

Notable awards include: gold medal at The 9th Taichung 2020 International Exhibition of Photography; gold medal at Magic Dof 2022; encouragement prize at the "Spring Buds" photo contest organized by Tuoi Tre newspaper in 2022...

In addition, photographer Ho Trung Lam is also the author of the photo book Agarwood Land in Spring 2023 published by the Writers Association Publishing House.
