On the afternoon of April 3, FIFA announced the rankings of men's football teams for the first time in 2025. The Vietnamese team made great progress, playing the most matches from December 2024 to present.
Coach Kim Sang Sik and his team played 8 matches, along with the Thai team, two countries that played a lot in the recent international competition period. As a result, the Vietnamese team was awarded 19.04 points.
The Vietnamese team has 1,183.83 points after 8 matches, including 5 wins and 3 draws. Most of these matches are within the framework of the ASEAN Cup 2024 from December 2024 and January 2025.
Most recently, Quang Hai and his teammates competed in FIFA Days in March with two wins against Laos (5-0) in the 2027 Asian Cup qualifiers and a friendly match against Cambodia (2-1) in Binh Duong.
This result helps the Vietnamese team approach the top 100 on the FIFA rankings. Meanwhile, the Thai team, also playing 8 matches, dropped 2 places from 97th to 99th.
The Thai team has 1,234.31 points, with only 3.14 points added (4 wins, 3 draws and 1 loss). This result makes the Thai team about to fall out of the top 100 on the FIFA rankings.
Myanmar is the team that has increased the most this month, moving up 7 places. Iraq has been deducted the most points after the 2026 World Cup qualifying round, with 29.46 points deducted.
Argentina is still the world leader. Japan is still number 1 in Asia.
The next time FIFA will rank and calculate points is on July 10, which is 98 days away.
