Identifying forestry as a potential and advantage in the province's economic development, therefore, in addition to the Government's policies to support forestry development, Phu Tho has issued many policies to support agricultural and forestry production in each stage.

Developing forestry economy in Yen Son commune, Thanh Son district helps people escape poverty sustainably.

As a mountainous district with 80% ethnic minorities, along with diverse terrain and large land fund, Yen Lap has many advantages in agricultural development, especially forestry and perennial industrial crops, helping people escape poverty.

Identifying poverty reduction as one of the key tasks, in which the poverty reduction goal associated with the development of the forest economy, especially large timber trees, medicinal plants, and fruit trees is considered a feasible solution, the district has created all conditions to support people in developing the forest economy, providing capital and technical solutions, encouraging people to promote their internal strength and escape poverty. Most localities in Yen Lap district have focused on developing large timber forests, concentrated in the communes of My Lung, My Luong, Ngoc Dong...

Yen Lap people in general and ethnic minorities in particular have clearly recognized the benefits of forest economy and are willing to participate in forest planting projects. Up to now, along with active activities in protection, regeneration, and forest planting, the district's forest coverage has increased to over 61%, and the movement to develop forest hill economy from households has grown strongly.

Not only Yen Lap, Thanh Son, Tan Son, Doan Hung, Ha Hoa districts have also focused on promoting economic development from forestry, planting new trees, converting large timber forests, expanding the area certified for sustainable forests... contributing to improving production efficiency, productivity, quality, and value of planted forests; the annual targets for forest protection and development have all met and exceeded the set plan.

In fact, policies supporting forestry development have gradually changed people's awareness of forest protection and development, while encouraging and motivating people to actively participate in forest planting. With the goal of sustainable development of the forest economy, the province has oriented to continue restructuring production, creating new driving forces for forestry development, protecting, developing and effectively and sustainably using existing forest areas, conserving genetic resources and biodiversity of forests.

In particular, priority is given to concentrated production forest planting, selecting quality varieties with clear origin for production, promoting intensive cultivation to improve economic efficiency of planted forests in the direction of developing multifunctional forestry.

In addition, the province promotes planting and caring for scattered trees, contributing to the implementation of the Government's project to plant 1 billion trees, such as planting cinnamon in forest areas in Tan Son and Yen Lap districts, and developing groups of strong non-timber forest products.

Every year, the whole province plants nearly 10,000 hectares of concentrated forests and over 2,000 hectares of large timber forests; the output of exploited timber from planted forests increases over the years, the output of exploited timber from concentrated forests reaches over 770,000m3 . The management and planning of 3 types of forests are focused on, ensuring compliance with current regulations, the forest area in the province is protected, exploited, used effectively, developed sustainably, maximizing the potential and advantages of forestry; the area of ​​natural forests and protective forests is strictly managed and protected, the annual forest cover rate reaches 39.7%.

Forest protection, fire prevention and fighting have been strengthened; violations of forest management, protection and development have decreased in both number of cases and level of damage; forest values ​​have been gradually exploited and promoted in association with ecotourism development and provision of forest environmental services, ensuring sustainable development. By 2030, the income value from planted production forests will increase by 2 times/unit area compared to 2020.

Thanks to the focus on developing the hill and forest economy, people's lives have been improved, forest coverage has always been stable, creating an important premise for socio-economic development and ecological environment protection. Striving for the target that by 2025, the average added value of the forestry sector will increase by 3.3%/year, newly planted concentrated forests will be on average over 9.15 thousand hectares/year, and scattered trees will be planted by more than 10 million trees, an average of 2 million trees/year...
