Within the framework of his visit to Laos and co-chairing the 47th meeting of the Vietnam-Laos Intergovernmental Committee, on the morning of January 10, in Vientiane, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh met with Lao General Secretary and President Thongloun Sisoulith.

On this occasion, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh emphasized that the two sides have reviewed bilateral cooperation in all fields since the 46th meeting of the Intergovernmental Committee of the two countries, thoroughly resolved many outstanding issues and proposed directions for bilateral cooperation in 2025.
Politically, bilateral relations continue to deepen and be substantive in all areas, with a focus on key points. Political cooperation is increasingly trustworthy and close, especially in maintaining regular exchanges and contacts at high and all levels.
Defense and security cooperation continues to be an important pillar of bilateral relations.
Economic, trade and investment cooperation continues to grow strongly as the total bilateral import-export turnover is estimated at 2.2 billion USD, exceeding the 2 billion USD mark set by both sides, striving to increase the turnover between the two countries to 5 billion USD in the coming time.
Cultural and educational cooperation, people-to-people exchange and cooperation between localities continue to develop strongly...
The two leaders agreed that the two sides should continue to exchange high-level delegations, especially on the occasion of major events of the two countries, demonstrating the spirit of solidarity, attachment and determination to complete the set goals.
Great effort and determination to promote bilateral cooperation
Welcoming the results of the 47th Session of the Intergovernmental Committee, General Secretary and President Thongloun Sisoulith highly appreciated the resolute direction of the Vietnamese Politburo, especially that of General Secretary To Lam and Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh in implementing high-level cooperation agreements and plans, with the focus on resolving difficulties and obstacles of many projects.

General Secretary and President Thongloun Sisoulith fully agreed with and highly appreciated the two countries' Governments, departments, sectors and localities' great efforts and determination to promote bilateral cooperation in a breakthrough direction with focus and key points.
At the same time, he requested that the agencies and sectors of the two countries focus highly and actively implement the results agreed upon by the leaders of the two countries; the two sides further strengthen the connection between the two economies of Laos and Vietnam, especially in finance, infrastructure, transportation, energy, telecommunications, tourism, etc.
At the end of the meeting, the two Leaders sent each other best wishes on the occasion of the upcoming New Year 2025 and Vietnamese Lunar New Year.
On the morning of January 10, during his visit and working program in Laos, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh and Lao Prime Minister Sonexay Siphandone attended the groundbreaking ceremony of the Laos - Vietnam Friendship Park project in Vientiane, Laos.
This is a typical project with profound political, cultural and historical significance, a symbol of the great friendship, special solidarity and comprehensive cooperation between Vietnam and Laos.
The project is funded by Vietnam in the form of a "turnkey" project. The Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism of Vietnam and the Central Office of the Lao People's Revolutionary Party were assigned by the Party and State of Vietnam and Laos to be the project investors.
The project covers an area of 3 hectares, in an area planned to become a major urban center of the capital Vientiane. The project is expected to be completed in 2025, to welcome the National Party Congresses of the two countries.
Upon completion, the project will become one of the most beautiful parks in Vientiane, a place to serve the people and tourists, and at the same time a red address in educating revolutionary traditions, great friendship, special solidarity and comprehensive cooperation between Vietnam and Laos for the people of the two countries, especially the young generation.
