A large sum of money was suddenly transferred, causing a man in Guangxi, China to be extremely confused.

One afternoon in June 2024, a man surnamed Yang in Liuzhou, Guangxi Province, China received a message from the system saying that someone had transferred money to his account. Mr. Yang immediately checked and discovered that he had received 1 million yuan (about 3.5 billion VND).

This surprised him so much that he tried asking his friends and relatives, but no one transferred him that amount of money. In the following days, Mr. Duong continuously received calls and messages from unknown numbers, asking him to return the money that they had mistakenly transferred. Having been warned many times about phone scams, Mr. Duong panicked and immediately contacted the local police.

Mr. Duong said that among the people who called him, some claimed to be the financial director of a company, others said they were police officers. These people all said that the 1 million yuan (about 3.5 billion VND) he received was a mistaken transfer, and they repeatedly persuaded Mr. Duong to return it to the sender. Because he could not tell whether what was being said was true or false, Mr. Duong decided to ask the police station of Luzhai County, Liuzhou to help verify.

After receiving the report, the police on duty at the Luzhai Police Station advised Mr. Yang not to worry too much and asked for the whole story. The police quickly opened an investigation based on the clues provided by Mr. Yang. According to the verification, the police said that Ms. Chu, the person who called Mr. Yang, was actually the financial director of a company in Jiangxi Province, China.

On June 30, 2024, a financial staff member at Ms. Chu's company accidentally transferred a payment of 1 million yuan to Mr. Duong's personal account. This amount was a payment that the company needed to make in time to fulfill the contract, so if it was delayed and resulted in a breach of contract, the company would suffer huge losses. Therefore, Ms. Chu and the entire company were extremely worried, and at the same time reported the incident to the local Jiangxi police, asking them to help retrieve the mistakenly transferred money.

At this time, the police in Luzhai, Liuzhou also contacted the local police in Jiangxi and confirmed that the situation matched Ms. Zhou's story. The authorities collected relevant documents such as business licenses, contracts, etc. to be more certain. Finally, they informed Mr. Yang to go to the bank and transfer the money back to Ms. Zhou. On July 5, Ms. Zhou confirmed to the authorities that she had received the full amount of 1 million yuan (about 3.5 billion VND), and at the same time thanked Mr. Yang and the police on all sides for their enthusiastic support.

After the incident, the Chinese police also reminded people to carefully check the account number, name and other information before confirming the transfer when using platforms such as mobile banking, Alipay, WeChat and ATMs. This will help avoid unnecessary trouble caused by wrong transfers. If you accidentally make a transfer to the wrong account, please contact the bank and the police immediately for help.

Additionally, if you suddenly receive an unknown amount of money and do not return it, you will easily get into legal trouble. In severe cases, this behavior can be considered intentional appropriation of property and a violation of the law.
