Sketch of SkyDrive's latest flying car, to be produced by Suzuki from next year in Japan.
SkyDrive has just announced the specifications and new design model for the SkyDrive SD-05 product, a short-range commercial aircraft that the company is researching and developing.
With the vision of "Let's run in the sky", SkyDrive decided to use the company's name to name the product.
In the new design, the flying car increases in size and the maximum number of seats for 3 passengers, compared to the previous version of the flying car with only 1 seat.
The new design of the flying car can carry 3 people and has a flight distance of about 15km.
Previously, on June 6, the company signed an agreement with Suzuki to maintain cooperation in producing a new generation of flying cars.
Production will be carried out at Suzuki Corporation's plant in Iwata City (Shizuoka Prefecture) starting in spring 2024. The target output is 100 units per year.
In the new design, the size of the flying car has been increased to 13 × 13 × 3m (length x width x height).
Maximum take-off weight increased to 1,400kg, cruise range reached about 15km.
The SkyDrive flying car's arched rotor frame optimizes lift and increases load capacity.
Along with that, the dome-shaped fan blade frame is uniquely arranged in a curved trajectory.
The operation of the engines has been optimized to improve energy efficiency, allowing the flying car to carry more passengers while maintaining a compact size.
Skydrive has also completed a patent application for its dome-shaped propeller frame.

At the Tokyo Mobility Show in Japan last October, the SkyDrive flying car model version SD-01 was also displayed at Suzuki's booth.
To bring this type of flying car to operate in the US, Skydrive and Suzuki set a goal of achieving a new type of flying vehicle certificate from the US Federal Aviation Administration (FAA).
