On October 23, the Vietnam Motor Show 2024 (VMS) officially opened with 19 automobile and motorbike brands and more than 300 supporting booths. The exhibition will last until October 27.
Mr. Nakano Keita, Chairman of the Vietnam Automobile Manufacturers Association (VAMA), said this year's exhibition emphasizes green energy solutions, emission reduction, and leading safety technology.

According to Tuoi Tre Online , there are more than 200 car and motorbike models on display and introduced at the exhibition. The brands that "cover" this year are mainly Japanese and Chinese car companies, but German cars such as Audi, Mercedes... are absent.

At Suzuki Vietnam's booth, there are 4 car models and one motorbike on display, including the XL7 hybrid, two Jimnys, a V-strom large-displacement motorbike, and a small truck.
Mr. Kotaki Kenji, General Director of Suzuki Vietnam, shared that combining electric motors and batteries with internal combustion engines helps overcome weaknesses and maximize the power of traditional engines.
"With the XL7 Hybrid, we hope this will be an accessible, smooth and convenient technology for everyone," said Mr. Kotaki Kenji.
According to the company, the XL7 Hybrid saves fuel significantly, reducing consumption by up to 14% per 100km compared to the internal combustion engine version. In October, the company offers a 50% discount on registration fees and an accessory package worth 35 million VND for customers buying the XL7 Hybrid, with prices starting at 599.9 million VND.
The booth attracted attention with the compact off-road vehicle Jimny imported from Japan, launched in the Vietnamese market in April, priced at 789-799 million VND.
This model has a square design, similar in appearance to the Mercedes G-class but smaller. As an off-road vehicle, the Jimny has an approach angle of 37 degrees, a ramp-over angle of 28 degrees and a departure angle of 49 degrees.
Also at the 2024 Auto Show, the all-new Toyota Camry impressed with three versions, of which two versions use hybrid technology: 2.5 HEV MID and 2.5 HEV TOP.
This is one of the few car models in Vietnam that has two hybrid options, with starting prices of 1.22 billion VND for the 2.0Q gasoline version, 1.46 billion VND for the 2.5 HEV MID version, and 1.53 billion VND for the highest-end version 2.5 HEV TOP.

Japanese car manufacturer Isuzu displayed 5 vehicles, including two D-Max, one mu-X, and two trucks. In particular, the company announced the selling price of the D-Max 2024, with 5 versions for sale, starting at 650 million VND.
The 2024 D-Max pickup truck has a new look from the exterior to the interior. In particular, Isuzu added a new off-road driving mode to the D-Max. In addition to the 2024 D-Max, the Japanese automaker also displayed the mu-X high-chassis model at VMS 2024. The car is imported from Thailand, sold in 4 versions, priced from 900 million to 1.19 billion VND.

Chinese cars show new designs and technologies to Vietnamese customers
Chinese automaker GAC entered the Vietnamese market in August. This is also the first time the company has participated in the largest exhibition of the domestic auto industry.

GAC brings a duo of SUV and MPV. The M6 Pro, a mid-size MPV, is GAC's most notable model at VMS 2024, competing with the Hyundai Custin or Toyota Innova Cross. The version appeared at the China Import Exhibition.
Besides the GAC M6 Pro, the neighboring car company also displayed two previously launched models, the M8 and GS8, in the E-size MPV and D-size SUV segments, respectively.
MG participates in VMS 2024 with a total of 10 vehicles on display, including a series of models currently on the market, along with new models appearing for the first time in Vietnam.
BYD's booth had a total of 7 vehicles on display, including Dolphin, Atto 3, Seal, two newly launched vehicles M6, Han, along with the Denza D9 and YangWang U8 models. In particular, the U8's spinning performance in place attracted the audience.

There are many new motorcycle models
In addition to motorbike models from Honda, Yamaha, and SYM, this exhibition also features large-displacement motorcycles from the CVO Road Glide ST brand - Harley-Davidson's most powerful commercial Touring model; Triumph Motorcycles' new 2025 Bonneville models with unique and outstanding color schemes; KTM 890 ADVENTURE R: KTM's new generation high-end Off-road warrior...
This year's exhibition does not have the presence of major auto brands that regularly participate such as Mercedes Benz, Audi, Land Rover, Volvo, Volkswagen, Ford... so it has lost significant appeal.
