Realizing the North Hanoi Smart City project soon

Leaders of Japanese Government agencies have recently made continuous visits and worked with the North Hanoi Smart City Development Investment Joint Stock Company, a joint venture between Sumitomo Corporation (Japan) and BRG Group (Vietnam), to soon realize the North Hanoi Smart City project - a project in the list of key economic cooperation projects in the joint statement between the two Governments during Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh's visit to Japan in 2023.

On April 29, within the framework of his visit and work in Vietnam, Mr. Tetsuo Saito, Minister of Land, Infrastructure, Transport and Tourism of Japan, visited the North Hanoi Smart City project and worked with the Board of Directors of the North Hanoi Smart City Development Investment Joint Stock Company.

At the meeting, Mr. Tetsuo Saito listened to the representative of the North Hanoi Smart City Development Investment Joint Stock Company report on the overall project as well as the current status of project preparation.

According to the representative of the North Hanoi Smart City Development Investment Joint Stock Company, understanding the important role in the cooperation between the two leading corporations of the two countries and being a sustainable symbol of the Vietnam - Japan friendship with the expectation of realizing an international-class, green, beautiful, modern urban center, all the company's staff are making efforts to complete the necessary preparations to be ready to deploy the project, striving to complete on schedule, and soon put the project into operation.

Previously, on April 24, during a working trip to Japan, Mr. Takashi Yanai, General Director of Infrastructure Division - Sumitomo Corporation and Ms. Nguyen Thi Nga, Chairwoman of BRG Group, Vice Chairwoman and General Director of North Hanoi Smart City Development Investment Joint Stock Company also had a working session with Mr. Hajime Wakuda, Deputy Commissioner in charge of international affairs, Department of Natural Resources and Energy, Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry of Japan in Tokyo about the North Hanoi Smart City project.

At the meeting, representatives of Sumitomo Corporation and BRG Group said that they expected to develop the North Hanoi Smart City as the first carbon-neutral urban area not only in Vietnam but also in the world and hoped to receive support and active participation from Japan so that the North Hanoi Smart City can achieve this goal, becoming a typical example of Hanoi and Vietnam in developing an increasingly sustainable environment and contributing to promoting the early completion of the Vietnamese Government's commitment at COP26 to achieve net emissions of "0" by 2050 and the national action plan to respond to climate change for the period 2021 - 2030.

The North Hanoi Smart City Project is invested by the North Hanoi Smart City Development Investment Joint Stock Company, a joint venture between Sumitomo Corporation (Japan) and BRG Group (Vietnam) with a total investment of 4.2 billion USD and a total area of ​​nearly 272 hectares in Dong Anh district, Hanoi.
