The team of Hanoi University of Industry won the championship after 15 years of waiting, representing Vietnam at the Asia-Pacific Robocon 2023.
The final round of the Vietnam Robot Innovation Contest - Robocon Vietnam 2023 took place on the evening of May 28 at Nam Dinh Provincial Sports Palace with the competition between two teams DCN-DT 02 from Hanoi University of Industry and LH-J4F from Lac Hong University.
After 42 seconds of competition, the DCN-DT 02 team won an absolute victory to become the new champion of this competition, after 9 consecutive years of domination by Lac Hong University. At the end of the match, the DCN-DT 02 members ran around the field to celebrate. In the stands, fans from Hanoi University of Industry cheered enthusiastically.
Mr. Pham Van Chien, lecturer of the Faculty of Electronics at Hanoi University of Industry, said that he and his students were overwhelmed with emotion when they won because Hanoi University of Industry had waited 15 years to regain the Robocon championship.
"We had a hard time redesigning the robot while competing. From the school round to the Northern qualifying round and the national final round, the robots were completely different. However, we calculated and were confident to win this," said Mr. Chien.
Winning the championship cup, DCN-DT 02 will represent Vietnam to compete in Cambodia at the Asia-Pacific Robocon tournament in August.

This year's Robocon competition is called "Exploring the Ancient Temple". Each team has two robots working together to throw 40 red and blue rings into 3 columns in the team's competition area and 5 columns in the common area called Angkor Wat. This is the symbolic structure of Cambodia, the host country of the 2023 Asia-Pacific Robocon.
At the point when a team successfully places all of its colored rings in the top position of the 8 columns, that team is declared the winner.
In the final, DCN-DT 02 threw the red rings. The speed of the final was pushed up from the start, both teams scored consecutively, especially in the center ring. DCN-DT 02 was faster and more accurate with consecutive red rings hitting the target.
Before the victory in the final match, the representative of Hanoi University of Industry was unbeaten in the previous 6 matches, including 4 absolute victories.
Team LH-J4F of Lac Hong University won second prize. Third prize went to two teams of University of Economics and Industrial Technology.
Robocon is the largest engineering technology innovation competition for students today, organized by Vietnam Television. The competition is an environment for practicing and testing knowledge of mechanical design, control programming, electricity and many other soft skills. This year, 32 teams from universities were selected for the national final round.
According to experts, this year's competition is of high quality. Teams have improved and adjusted robots to suit the tactics of each time; robots operate flexibly, with high precision when teams have upgraded technology such as using lasers to measure distance. From there, the competition has had more absolute victories than previous years.
