Road Traffic Law and Safe Motorcycle Driving Skills Competition in the Northern Region in 2024

On October 19, in Thai Nguyen, the Ministry of Education and Training coordinated with the National Traffic Safety Committee to organize the contest "Learning about road traffic laws and safe motorbike driving skills" in the northern region in 2024.

The competition attracted more than 250 students from 5 universities in the northern region including: University of Education, University of Medicine and Pharmacy (Thai Nguyen University), University of Water Resources, Hanoi University of Education 2, Hanoi University of Industry. These are the best teams after going through qualifying rounds held at the schools to participate in the regional round.

Here, students were informed about green generation building, compulsory civil liability insurance for motor vehicle owners; knowledge and skills on traffic safety and a practical test on safe motorcycle driving. At the same time, contestants from each team participated in two competitions: Presentation of a skit on traffic safety and a theory test on the Road Traffic Safety Law.

According to Tran Van Dat, Director of the Department of Political Education and Student Affairs (Ministry of Education and Training), statistics from the National Traffic Safety Committee show that every year, traffic accidents involving motorbikes and mopeds account for nearly 70% of all accidents. In recent times, the situation of traffic order and safety in our country has continued to have many complicated developments, traffic accidents have caused serious damage to people and property. Traffic congestion has become common in urban areas, and violations of traffic order and safety, especially road traffic, have become a pressing issue for the whole society.

University of Education (Thai Nguyen University) won first prize in the competition.

The contest is organized to raise awareness of compliance with the Road Traffic Law and safe motorbike driving skills for students, contributing to limiting accidents, reducing damage to people and property for students and the community.

Director Tran Van Dat hopes that each student will form and further improve their awareness of obeying road traffic laws, cultural behavior when participating in traffic, have skills to safely drive motorbikes and scooters and will become active propagandists for friends, family and everyone in society.

At the end of the contest, the Organizing Committee awarded one first prize to the University of Education (Thai Nguyen University); two second prizes to the University of Water Resources and Hanoi University of Education 2; two third prizes to the Hanoi University of Industry and the University of Medicine and Pharmacy (Thai Nguyen University) along with prizes for the best skit and the best motorbike driver.
