ANTD.VN - When the online shopping market is bustling at the end of the year, it is also the time when shippers enter the busiest "order running" season of the year. Behind the seemingly simple popular job are stories of overcoming difficulties and efforts to deliver goods during the peak season.
Express delivery market is bustling in the peak season before Lunar New Year 2025 |
Ms. Thuy Linh, owner of a bedding store in Nam Tu Liem District, Hanoi, said that the products she sells are seasonal products, especially during peak times when orders are very "hot". This year, the cold season in the North came later, so buyers took advantage of the 11/11 and 12/12 sales to buy for Tet, so sales increased many times compared to normal.
In the fashion and beauty industry, Mr. Xuan Huy, owner of a fashion store in District 2, Ho Chi Minh City, also confirmed that at the end of the year, beauty and fashion products often have many promotions. Customers mainly buy online to take advantage of discounts and shipping costs.
The trend of online shopping "explodes" at the end of the year, leading to an increase in the demand for delivery. Recently, J&T Express (Global) announced that this brand has processed more than 100 million parcels globally on November 12. In Vietnam alone, the number of orders after the 11/11 sale increased by 177% compared to the same period last year. This not only reflects the growing trend of online shopping but also shows the important role of the delivery shipper to complete the online shopping experience.
Mr. Nam Son, a shipper working at the J&T Express post office in Thanh Xuan district, Hanoi, shared about the intensity of work at the end of the year: “During peak season, I usually start working at 6am, sometimes until 10pm there are still orders. The amount of goods increases many times compared to normal days, so shippers have to “run” continuously, without lunch break, eating bread to deliver quickly.”
Although income increases during peak season, according to Mr. Nam, seasonal pressure is not easy. To complete the job well, shippers need to know the route, keep accurate time, and plan their travel to optimize delivery time. During year-end and pre-Tet shopping seasons, they also have to be more careful and thoughtful when delivering special items such as ornamental plants, food, wine, fragile goods, etc. In addition, shippers have to face many unpredictable situations such as being "bombed", traffic jams, or even being misunderstood by customers as bad people due to increasingly sophisticated impersonation scams...

In addition, when delivering goods in the North in the last months of the year, shippers have to face harsh weather. Mr. Lo Thanh Hieu, a J&T Express shipper at the post office in Muong Lay district, Dien Bien shared, "At the end of the year, there are many goods, there is more income but it is hard. It is very cold, even the trees are frozen. There was a day when I entered the village before dawn, the fog made it impossible to see the road, to deliver an order, I had to drive dozens of kilometers on the mountain pass, there were some bad roads that could not be passed and had to go back to another road, so I took the opportunity to leave early to deliver the goods to the people on time". As he spoke, Mr. Hieu quickly loaded the goods onto the car.
The sudden increase in online orders during sales is an opportunity to boost sellers' revenue, but it also comes with increased pressure to process local orders. This is not only a challenge for sellers but also for shipping units. J&T Express said that in order to meet the increasing demand for delivery and receipt before the Lunar New Year, the brand has increased its staff by 20% and implemented support policies to ensure the rights of shippers. Options for investing in vehicles and applying modern technology to improve capacity to ensure the rapid flow of goods during the Lunar New Year 2025 have also been taken into account.
