Press conference on Vietnam - Laos Special Friendship Day 2023 held in Thua Thien Hue

Vietnam and Laos are two close neighbors, mountains connected to mountains, rivers connected to rivers, especially cultural similarities, along with the long-standing loyalty and attachment throughout the history of building and defending the country of the two peoples. During the years of resistance against colonialism, the Vietnam - Laos coalition fought together, overcame hardships to bring the resistance of both countries to victory.

Program: The Vietnam - Laos Special Friendship Day is organized annually by the Ministry of Information and Communications in coordination with the provinces to affirm the consistent viewpoints, guidelines and policies of the Party, State and People of Vietnam - Laos in maintaining, consolidating and enhancing the special relationship and comprehensive cooperation between the two Parties, two States and People of Vietnam - Laos. Enhancing the close relationship between Vietnam - Laos in the field of information and communication, affirming that the field of information and communication is a bright spot in the Vietnam - Laos relationship with many bilateral cooperation programs signed by the two sides in recent times.

Affirming the effectiveness of investment cooperation in the telecommunications sector between Vietnamese telecommunications and information technology enterprises (Viettel, VNPT, FPT...) and Lao enterprises such as Lao Military Telecommunications Corporation LAT, Sky Telecom, Planet ISP... is demonstrated through many impressive figures such as 3G, 4G coverage rate, internet usage rate of Lao people. Contributing to raising awareness of all levels, sectors, people and ethnic minorities in border areas about awareness and responsibility in border management to successfully protect the strategic tasks set forth by the 13th National Congress of our Party, namely: firmly protecting the independence, sovereignty, unity and territorial integrity of the Fatherland; maintaining peace and stability for national development; enhancing the position and prestige of Vietnam in the region and the world.

In 2023, the program: "Vietnam - Laos Special Friendship Festival 2023" was held in Thua Thien Hue province, thereby affirming the important geographical position of the province on the East - West corridor connecting Thailand - Laos - Vietnam along Highway 9. Along with the development of the cooperative relationship between Vietnam and Laos through historical periods, the cooperative relationship between Thua Thien Hue province and the two provinces of Sekong and Salavan of Laos has been constantly strengthened, nurtured and developed, bringing practical benefits to the people of the border provinces in particular and the people of the two countries in general.

Affirming that the program "Vietnam - Laos Special Friendship Day 2023" is an important annual activity in foreign information work and at the same time contributes to promoting the image of Thua Thien Hue in particular, the image of Vietnam in general as a special reliable partner of Laos in the period of innovation and development. The program is solemnly organized, combining the ceremony and the festival, ensuring safety, economy, practicality and efficiency. Strengthening the traditional friendship, special solidarity and comprehensive cooperation between Vietnam and Laos; promoting Vietnam's achievements after more than 36 years of innovation and international integration.

In particular, there is an introduction and promotion of the potential, strengths, unique culture, and famous culinary arts of Thua Thien Hue province. Integrating foreign information activities with people-to-people diplomacy activities, promoting trade, investment, and tourism activities to support Thua Thien Hue province in finding effective solutions for socio-economic development, strengthening solidarity between all levels, sectors, and people of the border provinces of Vietnam and Laos.

Accordingly, the Vietnam - Laos Special Friendship Festival 2023 will be held for 5 days from November 11 to November 15, 2023 at the Cultural - Cinema Center of Thua Thien Hue province, 41A Hung Vuong, Hue city with main activities such as organizing communication to promote the program, photo exhibition on the special relationship between Vietnam and Laos, Exhibition fair to display and promote products in the fields of information, communication, culture, tourism of Vietnam and Laos; Scientific seminar on the topic: information and communication - prospects for cooperation between Vietnam and Laos; art exchange night and organizing activities to visit and learn about traditions./.
