Regarding the activities of the first Hanoi Lotus Festival in 2024, Mr. Nguyen Thanh Tinh, Vice Chairman of Tay Ho District People's Committee, Head of West Lake Management Board, said that the Hanoi Lotus Festival will be held for 5 days (from July 12 to July 16) at Tay Ho Cultural and Creative Space (lane 612, Lac Long Quan, Tay Ho District, Hanoi).

The main activities of the festival include: opening ceremony of Hanoi Lotus Festival and introduction of OCOP products associated with the culture of the northern mountainous provinces in 2024; ceremony to receive National Intangible Cultural Heritage - West Lake lotus tea brewing; semi-realistic art program "Story of Lotus", awarding prizes for the photo contest "Beauty, Ao Dai and Lotus".

Within the framework of the festival, there will be a workshop on “Preserving and developing Vietnamese lotus”; the inauguration ceremony of the OCOP product introduction and sales center in Tay Ho district - Trinh Street; the opening of the lotus installation art exhibition; lotus photo exhibition in Vietnamese life; a survey program - Conference on “Upgrading service quality and connecting tourist destinations of Tay Ho district with travel agencies in Hanoi in 2024”; the music night “Trinh Cong Son and friends”; workshop experience areas for visitors.

The highlight of the event series was the record-breaking performance of about 1,000 people wearing Ao Dai with lotus motifs and the record-breaking painting of Mother Goddess Lieu Hanh with 50,000 lotus flowers.

According to Mr. Nguyen Dinh Hoa - Deputy Director of the Hanoi Department of Agriculture and Rural Development (DARD), the first Hanoi Lotus Festival was organized by the Department of Agriculture and Rural Development in coordination with Tay Ho District to build an exhibition area and promote OCOP products with a scale of 100 booths. This is an opportunity for Hanoi's OCOP entities to introduce their products to consumers and visitors.

“At the event, the organizers prepared a 4m high, 10m wide painting of the legendary Thang Long flower, arranged by artisans with more than 30,000 lotus flowers and lotus products; a 1.6m high, 2.2m wide portrait of Uncle Ho, assembled from 99,496 lotus flower photos from different regions, expressing the love for lotus flowers and respect for Uncle Ho of the people of the capital and the whole country,” emphasized Mr. Nguyen Dinh Hoa, Deputy Director of the Department of Agriculture and Rural Development.

In addition, the festival organized the “West Lake Green Cycling Festival” with the participation of 7,000 people from districts, towns, and sports clubs. This is a meaningful community activity to spread the spirit of sports and promote the beauty of West Lake lotus.

Currently, the organization of the first Lotus Festival in Hanoi is in the final stage. With a thorough and elaborate investment, the first Lotus Festival in Hanoi promises to attract a large number of domestic and international tourists. Through the event, it aims to promote the beauty of West Lake tourism, exploit the unique features of the traditional lotus growing and lotus tea brewing profession.

The Hanoi Lotus Festival 2024 is a practical activity to celebrate the 70th anniversary of the Liberation of the Capital (October 10, 1954 - October 10, 2024) and to welcome the 18th Congress of the Vietnam Fatherland Front of Hanoi, term 2024-2029.
