Tra Vinh Tra Vinh Wax Coconut Museum has a total investment capital of over 13 billion VND, contributing to honoring the original wax coconut tree planted in Cau Ke land.
On the afternoon of August 12, the People's Committee of Tra Vinh province held a press conference to inform about the 100th anniversary of Tra Vinh Wax Coconut Festival and the Vu Lan Thang Hoi Week of Cau Ke district in 2024.
Mr. Duong Hoang Sum, Director of the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism of Tra Vinh, said that at the event, the locality will launch the Tra Vinh Wax Coconut Museum in Thanh Phu commune, Cau Ke district, the first private museum in Tra Vinh province.
Tra Vinh Wax Coconut Museum was built on an area of 235m2, with a total investment of over 13 billion VND. This is a unique cultural address, contributing to honoring the original wax coconut tree planted in Cau Ke land.
There are exhibition spaces here, recreating the history of life of the Kinh - Khmer - Chinese ethnic groups in the province, displaying a collection of artifacts related to the wax coconut tree, and life stories of residents under the coconut canopy.

The museum was established to enrich the cultural and tourism products of Cau Ke district in particular and Tra Vinh province in general, helping local people and visitors from near and far to learn about the history of the wax coconut tree and the culture of the ethnic communities of Tra Vinh province, as well as being a cultural exchange point between researchers and collectors at home and abroad.
According to Mr. Le Thanh Binh - Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee, Chairman of the Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee of Tra Vinh province, the 100-year Tra Vinh Wax Coconut Festival and the Vu Lan Thang Hoi Week of Cau Ke district 2024 are special events, held for the first time in Tra Vinh province.
The event aims to honor and promote the brand and values of wax coconut and affirm the efforts and determination to bring products processed from wax coconut to world markets, facilitate trade of goods, connect supply and demand, call for investment in the field of agricultural processing and tourism with the desire to introduce and promote the potential, advantages, and investment attraction policies of the province to domestic and foreign investors.
At the same time, continue to preserve, maintain and promote the Vu Lan Thang Hoi Festival, the belief of the Chinese community in Cau Ke district, Tra Vinh province, which has been included in the list of national intangible cultural heritage by the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism.
The event took place from August 25-31 in Cau Ke district, with 12 main activities, including outstanding activities such as: Opening program of Tra Vinh 100-year Wax Coconut Festival, seminar on wax coconut trees, display of delicious fruit specialties, contest of making 100 delicious dishes from wax coconut, talk show "Cau Ke Tourism - Potential along Hau River".
The opening program of Vu Lan Thang Hoi Week is associated with the announcement of the decision of the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism to recognize the Vu Lan Thang Hoi Festival of Cau Ke district as a national intangible cultural heritage. In addition, there are trade fairs, culinary spaces; lion dance festivals, sports activities, and folk games.
