On the evening of November 9, the People's Committee of Tra Vinh province held the opening ceremony of the Cultural and Tourism Week associated with the Ok Om Bok Festival in 2024. Speaking at the opening ceremony, Vice Chairman of the People's Committee of Tra Vinh province Nguyen Quynh Thien said that Ok Om Bok is a traditional festival of the Khmer people in the South, recognized by the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism as a National Intangible Cultural Heritage. The Cultural and Tourism Week associated with the Ok Om Bok Festival in Tra Vinh province this year is organized on an expanded provincial scale to serve people in sightseeing, entertainment, exchange, community connection, creating motivation to contribute to increasing labor productivity, fulfilling the socio -economic development targets in 2024, towards successfully implementing the Resolution of the 11th Provincial Party Congress, term 2020-2025. The event contributes to preserving and promoting the fine traditional cultural values ​​of the ethnic groups in the province, building an advanced Vietnamese culture imbued with national identity. This is an opportunity to promote to tourists the image of the people and land of Tra Vinh, especially the potential, advantages, and unique cultural features of the ethnic groups, especially the Khmer people. Enterprises inside and outside the province have the opportunity to exchange and link to develop diverse tourism products with provinces and cities; search for markets, promote investment, trade, tourism, and call for investment in tourism development. The Cultural and Tourism Week associated with the Ok Om Bok Festival of Tra Vinh province in 2024 takes place from November 9-15 in Tra Vinh city, with many attractive activities associated with rich and exciting content. Specifically, the Southern Cuisine Space of Tra Vinh province in 2024; "Tra Vinh - Connecting and Developing" tourism exhibition space; Trade Promotion Fair - Rural Industrial Products and OCOP associated with Ok Om Bok Festival of Tra Vinh province in 2024; The 2nd Tra Vinh Province Khmer Non-Professional Dance Festival in 2024. Along with that is an exhibition of booths displaying typical products of the Khmer ethnic group, book exhibition and mobile library service; display and demonstration of traditional Khmer ethnic crafts and costumes; activities to celebrate Vietnam Cultural Heritage Day; water puppetry performances; festival night... In addition, the province also organizes many physical education and sports activities such as Ngo boat racing, motorbike racing, football, Khmer youth volleyball, bicycle racing; folk games... After the ceremony is an art program performed by singers and artists from Ho Chi Minh City, Tra Vinh Provincial Cultural Center, and the Khmer Art Troupe Anh Binh Minh.
