Information at the meeting showed that in the first quarter, the province's socio-economic situation continued to develop stably; agricultural production was implemented on schedule; trade and services were vibrant; tourists to Lao Cai reached over 3 million, up 50% over the same period; State budget revenue in the area was estimated at 3,254 billion VND, equal to 33% of the estimate; the fields of culture, education, health, social security... were focused on implementation.

At the meeting, reporters asked questions related to the fields of agriculture, basic construction investment, environment, health care, tourism, social security and the two-tier government model.

Representatives of some departments and branches have responded to clarify, emphasizing that key projects such as Sa Pa Airport and the Lao Cai - Hanoi - Hai Phong standard gauge railway will be accelerated. The Department of Home Affairs also informed about preparations for the two-level government model, in which the Department has advised on the establishment of a steering committee and a support team, and is currently developing projects according to the roadmap.

In his concluding remarks, Mr. Dinh Van Dang, Chief of Office of the Provincial People's Committee, hoped that the central and local press agencies would continue to accompany the province in information and propaganda; promptly reflect the direction and administration of the Party Committee and the government in implementing economic development goals, programs, projects, and social security work in the area.
