Fundamentally resolve complex security and order issues

On the afternoon of April 3, Deputy Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee, Chairman of the People's Committee of Kien Giang province Nguyen Thanh Nhan chaired a conference to review the work of crime prevention and control; prevention and control of human trafficking; prevention and control of HIV/AIDS, drugs, prostitution; building a mass movement to protect national security in 2024 and key tasks in 2025.

In 2024, all levels and sectors will make great efforts to lead, direct, and effectively organize the fight against crime, human trafficking, HIV/AIDS, drugs, prostitution, and build a mass movement to protect national security.

Coordinate to basically stabilize complicated security and order incidents arising right at the grassroots level; resolutely fight against criminal gangs and groups, quickly crack down on many serious cases, highly appreciated by the people, especially resolute in investigating and handling crimes related to land and violations in land management that are the cause of crime in Phu Quoc City (Kien Giang).

Colonel Diep Van The - Deputy Director of Kien Giang Provincial Police awarded certificates of merit from the Ministry of Public Security to collectives with outstanding achievements in the movement of all people to protect national security in 2024.

The functional sectors have reduced crimes related to social order, the whole province detected 1,189 cases (down 8.8% compared to 2023); the rate of investigation and solving cases is high (reaching 90.41%). Crimes and violations of the law on economic management order, corruption and positions were detected and handled more, specifically 165 cases, 152 subjects were detected transporting, trading in prohibited goods, trading in goods of unknown origin, mainly cigarettes, shoes, sports equipment of all kinds.

The rate of handling denunciations, reports of crimes and recommendations for prosecution exceeded the set target (reaching 90.08%). The investigation and handling of crimes did not allow for forced confessions or torture. Effectively implemented the work of mobilizing, fighting against and preventing crimes and violations of the law on weapons, explosives and supporting tools, received and seized many military weapons and homemade weapons.

The work of receiving and organizing drug addiction treatment for subjects at the provincial multi-functional drug addiction treatment facility has been well implemented, preventing students from escaping; prevention and control of prostitution and HIV/AIDS have been directed with attention and achieved many results.

Speaking at the conference, Deputy Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee, Chairman of the People's Committee of Kien Giang province Nguyen Thanh Nhan assessed that the work of crime prevention and control, building a movement for the whole people to protect national security have been strengthened... contributing to the socio-economic development of the province.

Comrade Nguyen Thanh Nhan emphasized that in the coming time, all levels and sectors will continue to thoroughly grasp, deploy, and seriously and effectively implement the Party's guidelines, resolutions, and policies, and the State's laws on crime prevention and control and ensuring security and order.

He especially noted the need to increase the use of surveillance cameras in crime prevention and control and to ensure security and order. The authorities have implemented plans and strategies to ensure absolute safety for political, cultural and social events, key targets and projects in the province. They have a firm grasp of the area to promptly advise and propose to Party committees and authorities to effectively resolve complex security and order issues at the grassroots level.

Deputy Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee and Chairman of the People's Committee of Kien Giang Province Nguyen Thanh Nhan emphasized that the functional forces have launched high-point attacks, suppressed and hunted down criminals; destroyed organized and dangerous criminal gangs and groups, and complicated social order gathering places.

Strengthen management of residence, conditional investment and business sectors, management of weapons, explosives, and supporting tools, and prevent criminals from taking advantage of them to commit crimes. Continue to maintain and coordinate with functional forces of border provinces of the Kingdom of Cambodia in protecting security and order in border areas and preventing and combating all types of crimes...

On this occasion, the Ministry of Public Security awarded certificates of merit to 14 collectives with outstanding achievements in the movement of all people to protect national security in 2024.
