Ready for the 8th Oil and Gas Skills Competition

On September 20, the Organizing Committee of the Contest inspected and surveyed the preparations and locations of the contest venues at the College of Petroleum, held a meeting to evaluate and agree on the content of the Contest.

The 8th Oil and Gas Skills Competition is a major event organized by Petrovietnam every two years. For the event to be successful, careful preparations were made many months in advance.

From the beginning of the year, Petrovietnam established the Organizing Committee of the Competition and developed a detailed plan, including determining the location, time, number of contestants, the participating industries and the evaluation criteria. The competition is expected to gather contestants from member units nationwide, competing in many fields related to oil and gas production, processing and engineering.

Previously, Petrovietnam’s member units also organized grassroots-level vocational competitions to select the best individuals to represent them in the Group-level competition. In addition to selection, the units also focused on training and fostering skills and professional knowledge for candidates. Candidates were trained not only in techniques, but also in labor safety, fire prevention and strict regulations in the oil and gas industry.

To ensure that contestants can compete in the best conditions, Petrovietnam has invested in modern facilities and equipment, suitable for the requirements of each profession. Factories, laboratories and testing equipment are thoroughly inspected to ensure the highest level of safety and accuracy. In addition, the machinery and equipment system is also regularly maintained to meet the requirements of the competition.

Due to the specific nature of the oil and gas industry, ensuring security and safety during operations is a top priority, so during the competition, fire prevention, first aid and emergency response plans are carefully planned. The Organizing Committee has closely coordinated with security and medical units to ensure absolute safety for all candidates and participants.

To ensure transparency and fairness in the competition, the Organizing Committee has invited leading experts in the industry to participate as judges. The evaluation criteria are clearly and specifically publicized, helping contestants understand the requirements and prepare thoroughly. The judges will evaluate the competition based on factors such as practical skills, creativity in problem solving and compliance with safety regulations.

This year's competition has the participation of more than 280 candidates from 15 member units under Petrovietnam, carefully selected from the grassroots level and nominated by the units. Candidates will compete in 14 occupations including: Oil and gas exploitation operations, Oil and gas drilling equipment operations, Oil refinery operations, Thermal power plant operations, Industrial electronics, Automation, Electrical installation, Refrigeration, Turning, Assembly, Welding, Graphic design, Information technology software solutions and Information technology network system administration.

After 7 times of organization, the Oil and Gas Skills Competition has become a festival of professional activities and professional skills, an opportunity for workers to exchange, learn experiences, improve professional qualifications and skills, strive to have more and more good engineers and high-level technical workers in the Oil and Gas industry. The competition has also become a tradition of those who seek fire, a beautiful corporate culture, a festival to honor the "golden hands" of the Oil and Gas workers.
