As soon as there is information predicting frost at Fansipan, tourists from everywhere will flock to Sa Pa, tours, accommodation and dining services will become bustling.

"During the monsoon season, when temperatures drop sharply, Sa Pa is an increasingly popular destination for tourists. Even when there is no frost, tourists still enjoy coming here to experience the biting cold of the mountains and admire the misty nature in the clouds and fog," said Duc Truong, a long-time tour guide in Sa Pa.

Sa Pa cuisine in winter is also an attractive destination for tourists with salmon hotpot, sturgeon, grilled food, smoked meat, corn wine...

The famous Canadian travel website The Travel once recommended Sa Pa, Vietnam, as one of the 10 attractive snowy destinations in Asia.

In the tourism development strategy, Lao Cai Department of Tourism has advised the Provincial People's Committee to build unique tourism products, creating differences and bringing emotions to tourists on each journey, including four-season festival tourism products.

The Winter Festival is one of the products that the tourism industry is interested in. In 2024, the Provincial Tourism Association coordinated with businesses to carry out a major tourism stimulus campaign, offering tourists many preferential policies and service discounts of up to 50%, on the basis of ensuring quality to attract domestic and international tourists.

This year, the Sa Pa Winter Festival has a series of attractive events such as the VMM International Mountain Marathon from November 28 to December 1; Cherry Blossom Festival - O Long Tea Hill, O Quy Ho Ward; Ban May Festival; Experience the Christmas space 2024 at Sa Pa Ethnic Cultural Park (from December 20, 2024); Special art night - New Year's Eve 2025 and welcome the first group of tourists to Sa Pa in 2025.

Thanks to winter tourism products, last November, the number of tourists to Lao Cai increased sharply, reaching 619,170 arrivals (of which international visitors were 66,653 and domestic visitors were 552,517), an increase of more than 51% compared to the previous month.
